Second round:

Bulls vs. Hawks

Sixers vs. Knicks

It would set up like the Bears playoff run.

I'd say the Heat would make for a better mirror of the Bears' situation as they would be like the Packers - a bit underachieving but capable of wining it all.

The Knicks are probably more of a rival though. I think, the Bulls don't really have a rival that's comparable to Packers/Bears. Come to think of it, does the NBA really have any classic rivalries?

I thought about that but can you really be hated rivals when you are on other sides of the country from each other and play two regular season games a year and sometimes play in the Finals. I guess when most people think of NBA rivals this is probably what they think though.

The NBA seems to be a league where rivalries are developed throughout a season and go on a season by season basis depending on the players on the teams.

Pretty much. You could make a decent case the Cavs and Heat had something approaching a rivalry this year.

Hawks - Magic have had a rather heated relationship for the last few seasons. Lakers and Kings had a pretty decent run back in the 00's.

Related to this subject, the blatant desperation in the media for there to be anything even remotely approaching a rivalry between the Knicks and the Celts is hilarious.

Lakers-Kings used to be pretty big. It's still a decent rivalry even though the Kings have stunk for a couple years. I guess Lakers-Spurs is a bit of a rivalry just because of how often they've met in the playoffs over the last decade. The Spurs and Suns have had some good playoff series recently also.

Dont worry about the Celtics guys, they are just resting for the playoffs, and trying to not get Orlando.....

Clown shoes as usual. It's ok, it'd been awhile since a favored team was down by double digits and came back to win a playoff game. No way you could've seen that coming.

I think I'm fine with Boston winning. The Knicks going down in painful fashion is nice and I want the Heat going down as soon as possible.

Is it just me or has late-game strategy really eroded in basketball the last few years? Both in the NBA and college, especially. It's almost like they don't even coach to it anymore...

I actually just said something like this to my dad. Teams just go isolation with their best player and hope he hits a prayer. It's stupid.

This sounds really stupid and old-timey of me to say, but the egos are such that the best player is always going to take the shot, everytime. If there was even some consideration given to passing the ball or just executing a give-and-go, the play suddenly becomes a little difficult to defend. As it is now, just overload the guy with the ball and watch him put up a horribly contested 3.
