It is hard to keep up with what the argument is. As I understand it now, the best player in the NBA is now determined by 4th quarter PPG in the NBA FInals, unless the shots you make are too easy.

The best player in the NBA should probably be able to do more than score 2 total points in the 4th quarter of back to back Finals games. Just sayin'. :hello:

The Finals are no different than regular season games or weekend warrior battles at the Y and Lebrons overall stats trump all duh

Getting stopped by an old Jason Kidd in crunch time sure isn't the best way to become the best ever. On the flip side I really think LeBron will have two more great games and the Heat win this series.

There's no doubt that LeBron is the best player in the NBA right now.

He also still has a great chance to have a greater legacy than MJ as the GOAT. However...he isn't there yet. To be fair, at the same age everyone was saying that Jordan was just a scorer and questioned whether he'd ever be able to lead his team to a title.

LeBron is amazing at layups in transition, or against weak defense. But if you want a layup to be created in a half court offense, I take Wade over LeBron all day long.

It's embarassing how often 6'8" of pure muscle and speed flails and tries to just draw a foul on a drive without even trying to make the shot.

Come on guys. Nobody else sees this? Am I sounding so absurd?

Yes, you sound like you've never watched LeBron or Wade play basketball before.

Come on dude. You can do better than that.

LeBron gets to the basket with straight line speed and power. Wade, MJ, Kobe use elusiveness. It's very different. One doesn't work as well in a half court offense against a good defense. Especially if you don't have a great shot.

Why do LeBron supporters so adamantly claim that he's such a great scorer? Can't they just accept the fact that he's damn good at everything else?

LeBron did a great job dishing the ball to Chalmers to shoot while Wade was in the locker room and Bosh was on the bench. Simply amazing.

Because of his per game averages of 27.7 (regular season and 28.2 (playoffs)??? While having similar TS% and eFG as St. Michael?

OK, I'll say something that people are going to hate: I don't think all points are created equal. A guy who can take the ball and score when his team absolutely needs a basket is priceless in basketball. A score in the playoffs against a tough defense who knows you're going to get the ball is absolutely huge (see Dirk). This is not the same as a fast break dunk in the beginning of the game. Tough basketball games always seem to come down to the last 5 minutes. Just because a guy can pile on stats before then doesn't mean as much as scoring when it counts.

The Heat may well win the series. But if LeBron is such a stud, why are the Mavs even in it. I don't get it. He's playing with Wade and Bosh. And I hope we've all gotten over calling Anthony, Miller, Haslem, Bibby total pieces of garbage scrubs.

Chalmers was 4-6 from 3 point range. Assists are bad things now?

No he's killing it this series. Best performance I have ever seen. G.O.A.T. worthy.

I remember when that [expletive] Jordan backed off of taking the last shot against the Suns and Jazz. What an [expletive].

The Mavs are in it because they're a good team lead by an amazing player. Teams were "in it" against Jordan, too, so I'm not exactly sure why the Mavs making it a series would be such damning evidence against LeBron's ability.

Dallas is just a better structured team. Heat has two slashers and a PF who likes to shoots jumpshots. I mean, if I understand this correctly, Dallas is killing Miami by playing zone defense. If Bosh was a genuine inside threat, he could have Dallas' defense collapse on him and let jumpshooters open. And of course none of this is happening and Lebron is wasting his talent by making brick shots.

It's such a pity the Celts underperformed so much in the Miami series.

Remember when he had two points total in two 4th quarters of big games, while his team was colapsing? Me either.

Are you really saying that Jordan NEVER had a bad 4th quarter in ANY "big game?"

Just wanted to specify, because that's a helluva lot different than focusing only on Jordan's Finals performances.

Jordan scored every Bulls point in that quarter before Paxson hit the three.

If anyone was curious

And when it really mattered he didn't have the killer instinct to take the shot himself.

Gasp...you are comparing LeBron James to Michael in terms of scoring?! Blasphemy!

Yes, LeBron puts up gaudy stats. We've all seen them. He's fantasy basketball king.

But in real basketball, King James is playing with another top 5 player, a top 20 player, and a pretty damn good supporting cast. And he is losing in the finals while having scored 2 pathetic points in the fourth quarter the last 2 games when his team needed points the most.

I was bored earlier today and if you ranked all of Lebron and Jordan's Finals games by "game score" (not that I know what that means but it's some reductive number) from highest to lowest Lebron would hold 5 of the 7 lowest spots. Of course Lebron had played a total of 8 Finals games compared to Jordan's 35.

It was never time to compare him to Jordan. Thankfully it never will be.

And then he wussed out further by letting Grant block KJ's last second runner.

Yeah, there's no doubt as it stands right now that Jordan is the better Finals performer by far. I was just a bit taken back by someone now declaring that apparently Jordan never had a bad 4th quarter in ANY "big game" he played in.
