The Heat may well win the series. But if LeBron is such a stud, why are the Mavs even in it. I don't get it. He's playing with Wade and Bosh. And I hope we've all gotten over calling Anthony, Miller, Haslem, Bibby total pieces of garbage scrubs.

I don't really get, at this point in the playoffs, why some people are so reluctant to give Dallas a good deal of credit.

Portland was the trendy pick over Dallas in the first round and a lot of people (myself included) thought Portland had the better team. Dallas took them out in 6 and it could have been five had Roy not gone nuts in the fourth quarter in that one game.

Then came the Lakers who, if you were picking teams, would probably have had four of the first five players taken. And yet the Mavs demoralized the Lakers to the point that they quit in Game 4 and resorted a couple cheap shots in the fourth quarter.

Now there are the Heat who have three of the best four players in the series and yet the Mavs are a game away from the title.

Maybe this team is just better than we thought (if you take out the 10-game stretch that Dirk missed around New Year's, they were 55-17, which would have been slightly better than Chicago for winning percentage in the league), plays really well together and is peaking at the right time.

Dallas is a great team. Nobody is denying that.

It's just that Miami supposedly has the far and away best player in the NBA playing on a great team. I'm just making the argument that LeBron James is not a great scorer, and thus, is overrated. If LeBron and Dirk switched teams, who would be winning this series?

If LeBron wants to be considered up there with Jordan, he's going to have to win a slam dunk crown at some point. Kobe understood this.

Another question, can a basketball player be considered the best ever without winning a ring?

There is absolutely no chance of fans/analysts ever putting someone ahead of Jordan without winning even one ring. People argued in the past that LeBron was better, but it was more like giving him the benefit of the doubt since he had so much time left. He's probably halfway through being a big difference maker and he has 0 rings. He's got no chance of ever surpassing Jordan.

To ever top MJ you're going to have to win more than six rings and win them all as the alpha dog.

Agreed. If the Heat lose this series, a lot of people will point to LeBron losing in two Finals appearances while Jordan never lost one.

I love how a 22 year old LeBron gets no credit for leading a team "starring" Larry Hughes and and Drew Gooden to the NBA Finals, while a 25 year old LeBron ALSO gets no credit for going to the NBA finals because he has too many good players with him.

I'm not a big LBJ fan, but talk about moving the goal posts.

I won't even consider him in the same stratosphere until Lebron wins an NCAA title.

If Lebron wants credit for playing in the NBA Finals he should probably play well in the NBA Finals. He's 0/9 so far.

Game 2 vs. Spurs: 25-7-6 (2nd Scorer: Gibson -15)

Game 3 vs. Spurs: 28-8-7 (2nd scorer: Gooden - 13)

Game 4 vs. Spurs: 24-6-6 (2nd scorer: Gooden - 11)

Lebron was pretty awful that entire series, yes.

So you agree that Derrick Rose was awful this postseason too, right?

what the [expletive] does derrick rose have to do with anything?

Just clarifying, as Sponge has told us that 28-8-7 is terrible based on FG% and A crappy supporting cast

Why didn't he just give him a dollar bill?

We all know that LeBron borrows money from CC, not the other way around

Both hometown kids sent by Mr. Stern to save said town's teams?

Lerbron hasn't carried around a dollar bill since he was 11.

Sunday night is going to be fun. I can't imagine how early I will have to get to a bar to get a table. It will probably be best to avoid downtown Dallas.

i haven't seen sponge claim that rose had anything more than an awful postseason, either. i really think you're barking up the wrong tree and invoking an irrelevant point. just because rose was bad this postseason doesn't mean lebron wasn't bad against the spurs in that finals. he was, he played gutless and heartless and failed miserably.

after parking michael's car, MJ called him the N-word and threw a few quarters at him.
