Lebron was pretty awful that entire series, yes.

So you agree that Derrick Rose was awful this postseason too, right?

what the [expletive] does derrick rose have to do with anything?

Just clarifying, as Sponge has told us that 28-8-7 is terrible based on FG% and A crappy supporting cast

i haven't seen sponge claim that rose had anything more than an awful postseason, either. i really think you're barking up the wrong tree and invoking an irrelevant point. just because rose was bad this postseason doesn't mean lebron wasn't bad against the spurs in that finals. he was, he played gutless and heartless and failed miserably.

How does one differentiate a heroic, triumphant 28-8-7 vs. a gutless 28-8-7?

I saw LeBron before the game and I asked for $1. He gave me $.75. I said "Where's the rest"? He replied "I don't have a 4th quarter".

Ouch! Good one.

Why didn't he just give him a dollar bill?

We all know that LeBron borrows money from CC, not the other way around

Oooh, I like this one.

if we're talking about the spurs finals series, lebron shot 90 times and scored 88 points. it's possible you're just not really paying attention to the conversation, though.

so you're going with the FG% argument. as long as we're clear.

that it's not the reason the Cavs lost the series.

so you're saying that lebron is possibly the GOAT because he didn't completely sabotage and torpedo his own team in 08 finals?

sold.

I'm not making the case that he's the GOAT at all. I'm just arguing that scoring 28-8-7 on a shitty team in the NBA finals was not terrible.

But by your standards, Rose was a gutless golem in the ECF this year, yes?

so lousy field goal % on a team that loses in the playoffs only counts if you are a GOAT candidate? please, continue

People have been building Lebron up for the entire playoffs as the possible GOAT. (Hi Scottie Pippen!) The hype isn't matching up with the reality in the finals.

Nobody is saying anything about Rose. You're the one that brought up Rose, and I'm not sure why. Nobody was saying that Rose had a great ECF....he didn't. That was pretty obvious. But for a guy that had so much hype, promised 7+ titles, made such a big hoopla in the offseason, to struggle in the finals...he's gonna get some criticism. Sorry if that offends.

i'm not offended. in fact, the only thing I'm defending is the notion that the Cavs lost in 2006 because a 22 year old LeBron was somehow "terrible" (despite having a bunch of clowns for teammates and averaging around 23-7-7 for the series)

It counts more, yes.

Lebron signed up for this kind of scrutiny between the tattoos (Chosen One, Gifted Child), The Decision, the drunken orgy of a celebration following The Decision, acting like he slayed goliath by beating an old Celtics team in the semifinals, etc.

I'm not really gonna clown Lebron for the 07 Finals, even though he sucked but I sure as [expletive] will clown him for failing in the Finals this time.

Btw, GOAT may be may least favorite acronym of all time.

We could just use "the next MJ" if you like that better.

I'm still waiting for someone in the universe to explain to me why the best basketball player in the world hasn't developed a single post move in 8 NBA years. You're 6'9, 270. Jason [expletive] Kidd is guarding you 1 on 1 on the low block and you just kick it right back out?

Or how he has only gotten to the free throw line like 16 times in 5 games. He should be getting there 8-10 times a game minimum.

Maybe he's trying to save my skull from the damage caused from beating it against the wall when people bitch about him going to the line too much.

Dallas is a great team. Nobody is denying that.

It's just that Miami supposedly has the far and away best player in the NBA playing on a great team. I'm just making the argument that LeBron James is not a great scorer, and thus, is overrated. If LeBron and Dirk switched teams, who would be winning this series?

Who knows. It still might be Dallas.

Kobe is a great player who was playing on a team that won the last two championships but that didn't matter in the least against Dallas. I don't understand why Miami should be winning this series when twice already (three times if you include OKC) Dallas has beaten teams that appeared to have more talent than they do. This isn't a 1-8 or 2-7 matchup and it isn't even the Lakers against the Sixers in 01 and the Nets in 02 where they were such a ridiculously overwhelming favorite to win the title.

Sometimes the team with the best player or most talent doesn't win the series/title.

Or maybe he is a super talented athlete who isn't as good a basketball player as he could and should be? LeBron is great now, but he should be so much better than he is.

If Lebron wants credit for playing in the NBA Finals he should probably play well in the NBA Finals. He's 0/9 so far.

Game 2 vs. Spurs: 25-7-6 (2nd Scorer: Gibson -15)

Game 3 vs. Spurs: 28-8-7 (2nd scorer: Gooden - 13)

Game 4 vs. Spurs: 24-6-6 (2nd scorer: Gooden - 11)

9/21 - L

9/23 - L

10/30 - L

BUT BUT BUT DERRICK ROSE LEBRON'S PERCENTAGES WERE LOW BECAUSE HE HAD TO CARRY THE OFFENSE HIMSELF WAAH WAHH WAHHHH
