Looks like the correct answer unfortunately could be Matt Garza.

Anything new on Cashner?!?

Not since we learned of no new structural damage to the shoulder, about a week ago. Back completely to square one of his rehab. No timetable.

And, if and when he does come back this year, Hendry said a couple weeks ago that it would probably be as a reliever.

I must have missed Hendry saying that.

I think Hendry missed Hendry saying that.

On the future of Cashner when he returns from injury:

No decision has been made on what type of a role he will have long term with us. I will leave all of that up to Dr. Gryzlo and Dr. Yocum who are treating him for his shoulder injury. I will tell you that I think that if he is out for a while it is probably unrealistic to think that he will just go right back into the rotation when he returns. When you miss a few months with an arm injury you cannot just go right back to pitching six innings or more when you return so I would think that he would be in the pen when he does come back this season."

So stick him in the [expletive] minors and let him get gradually stretched back out. Don't just say hey, you missed x month's so you're a bullpen pitcher now because that is all the stamina you have. Go sit in the ML bullpen and pitch 1 inning every 3-4 days.

Hendry must've had his fingers in his ears when he said it.

cant afford rehab assignments when you're fighting for a playoff spot to keep your job

I really have a hard time grasping that several people whose opinions I respect on this board wish to see Hendry continue on as GM. Or, at the very least, would rather stick with the devil they know.
