Hummel only the 12th player to ever be first team B1G three times. 7 of the 12 are Purdue players.

Yeah, but what's that figure when you add in the women's programs? You have to take the women's program into consideration for trivia like this.

Actually my info was incorrect, Purdue has seven players that were 3-time B1G team selections, but they weren't all 1st team selections.

Charles Murphy

John Wooden

Paul Hoffman (4 time)

Terry Dischinger

Dave Schellhase

Rick Mount

However, Purdue's media guide says only Dischinger, Schellhase and Mount (along with Hummel) were 3-time 1st team selections.

Also, what's wrong with having a good women's program? I know IU's only sports are men's basketball and Notre Dame football but that's not the case for all schools.

the only one who sounds "butt hurt" is you.

But you're right. Hoiberg deserved it.

I sound butt hurt because I'm...right?

Kansas had one starter returning and lost arguably their three best players. They were 13th in the preseason Top 25 and will finish with a #1 seed in the tournament. It's not an egregious pick by any means.

If KU wasn't returning 5-star Eli Johnson, 4-star Thomas Robinson, 4-star Jeff Withey, 4-star Travis Releford and 4-star Tyshawn Taylor I'd be a little more wowed by their success. As is, they won a conference that a majority of the coaches picked them to win with a stacked lineup.

Compared to Iowa State and Missouri it certainly is(assuming we're using the standard COTY definition of most overachieving team)

Especially when you have schools like Missouri and Iowa State in the conference.

Arguing about something as trivial as conference coach of the year as picked by the coaches is kinda silly.

probably, but i'm still going to do it anyway; Beilein (co-)won the conference with a 6'4" PF!

I'm sure someone on here already posted this, but the votes were in before Michigan St. lost on Sunday. I'm guessing Beilein would've won if the vote was Monday morning.

Was Missouri that much of an overachiever? They were ranked in the preseason. It's not like they came out nowhere, and they finished third in the conference in RPI. Again, not saying Self was the best pick, but it's not something to use as the basis for a conspiracy theory.

Maybe. They were 25th in both polls so its not like they were really that highly thought of.

Mizzou was picked 4th in the conference and in the back of the Top 25 in the preseason, after which their 2nd best player tore his ACL and didn't play a game this year. We can only guess, but with the knowledge of Bowers' injury, they probably would've struggled to be picked in the top half of the Big 12.

You can bump IU's chances up and MSU's down due to the loss of Dawson.

Confident they'll beat Wisconsin?

Ah crap, I was thinking they would play MSU second. No, not confident they'll beat Bucky, but it will be a de facto home game for the Hoosiers.

Should've noted, Indiana gets half home-court advantage credit in the calculations.

Right about what? Your opinion that Haith deserved an award that is subjectively awarded? Or your opinion that the Big 12 coaches formed a conspiracy to give the award to anyone but Mizzou?

Personally, I don't think it's as cut and dry as you have it drawn out.

Sure, KU was picked by the coaches (along w aTm) to win it. Personally, I think it was more out of respect. KU had won 7 straight, and there was no clear cut best team (although if Baylor had any other coach, they would have been the clear cut best on paper.) So they gave it to KU because it was theirs to lose.

They also cast their votes before McLemore and Traylor were declared ineligible. I'm sure that impacted their vote.

Missouri returned all its starters from a tournament team, though they did lose Bowers after the fact.

KU returned 1 starter, one key reserve (who is now a candidate for NPOY), and three guys who averaged 14, 10, and 6 mpg last year. Two of those guys have been unable to stay healthy for a full season. They also have two former walkons getting big minutes.

Most of the press did not pick KU to win the league. Dickie V said 5th place I believe. Your boy Drunko DeArmond said we had no shot at the league. We won it by two games.

Personally, I would have no beef if Haith had won it. I know Self voted for him. But to act like Self winning it over Haith is some crime against humanity makes you sound petty and whiny.
