Michigan recruit Austin Hatch is in ICU after surviving a plane crash. His parents were both killed.

Unbelievably sad story. In 2003 His family was in a plane crash, killing his younger siblings and his mother. I cannot imagine going through something like this. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I think I would have stopped flying after the first plane crash. Wow, that is awful. :(

I covered Hatch in a sectional game back in March. He had a great game. Horrible story. Really hope he pulls through.

Apparently his dad was the pilot both times.

Let's hope he was a better doctor than pilot.

2012 PG Kyle Molock decommits from Purdue... Maybe Gary Harris will come to Purdue?

A lot of Painting going on! :P

Seriously??

I don't think teams cutting players happens as much as people say (because the kids see the writing on the wall too) but this fits the same profile as some of the Indiana cases. Molock was not as good of prospect anymore after the injury. Purdue didn't need him anymore now that they have two other point guards coming. And Purdue needed to open up a scholarship in order to pursue guys like Harris. There was probably a secret hope that Molock would leave, and now he has. How much was his decision and how much was Purdue's decision/pushing is up for debate.

Capobianco is officially transferring to Valpo and takes a swipe at Tom Crean on the way out the door.

"(Leaving Indiana) was a tough decision because I'm a really loyal guy and really enjoyed my time in Bloomington," Capobianco said. "But for me to get the most out of my basketball career and myself, making a move was necessary."

"I'm definitely a power forward but I can get out and shoot the ball a lot," Capobianco said. "I can shoot the 3, but I wasn't necessarily encouraged to take too many 3-pointers at Indiana. I was busy setting a lot of ball screens.

"I'm excited to play at Valpo and for a coach who empowers me and gives me the opportunity and confidence to be the player I am and not restrict me."

Edit - apparently Bobby thought he should have been shooting 3-pointers instead of setting screens.

Valpo? Looks like Bobby may get his wish of having a winning season during his college career!

I'm not sure what you're suggesting. What can Purdue really do to discourage a player from playing? Obviously, it looks very convenient, but I can't understand what they could possibly do to convince him not to stay committed to Purdue. A guy on the team already, you can whisper in his ear about how much better he would be at football (IE: Bade).

You tell him how little he'll play.

Why exactly wouldn't a player go to the media with it then? There would be a media frenzy about that even if it was just allegations.

Going to my first AAU tournament tomorrow. Lots of D1 talent (three Purdue commits amongst them) and lots of big name coaches (Coach K, Calipari, Donovan, Self, Beilein, Painter, yada yada yada). Should be pretty cool.

So the 25 year old ex-felon, stud JUCO player that Iowa signed is transferring. Heavy speculation is that he's being booted for violating the zero tolerance policy (weed?) but this is a face-saving move. The press release says he's looking for somewhere closer to home.

He was nearly leading the summer league in rebounding this year and would have been the starting SF.

Good money says he's in Columbia next week.
