RF Fukudome

SS Castro

CF Byrd

3B Ramirez

1B Colvin

LF Soriano

2B Barney

C Hill

P Cashner

If this is the lineup, I'd just as soon put Barney at #2 (let him bunt all day if someone's on base) rather than having him, Hill and Cashner back-to-back-to-back.

Hope Cashner throws a shutout in which every out made is due to the unmatched defensive prowess of Darwin Barney and Koyie Hill.

Hill will just get credited with calling a great game and be given the starting catching spot because of is great work with the pitching staff.

Kind of sucks that Blake DeWitt ran over Mike Quades dog after impregnating his teenage daughter and refusing to pay child support and then burned down his house.

If DeWitt can't hit and can't field, what is his purpose in the lineup? Is there really going to be a need for a "Free DeWitt" campaign? Or do you personally just latch on to the worst player on the roster every year for kicks?

Lets put it this way. DeWitts ceiling is 2008 Ryan Theriot+ a few home runs. Barneys ceiling is the rest of Theriots Cubs career.

Blake DeWitt has about 1000 MLB PA's indicating that his ceiling isn't really any different than Darwin Barney's. And even if you look exclusively at their minor league numbers, they're identical except for SLG, which is easily mitigated by the defensive difference between the two.

Still, if ever there was a time to at least give him a start, it would be vs a mediocre righty on a bad team.

DeWitt hits left-handers better than right-handers so far in his career, Enright was better against left-handers than right-handers last year (although part of that was probably BABIP luck), and Cashner is a heavy ground ball pitcher. It's not exactly the perfect day to give DeWitt the start.

This could make things quite ugly with Castro launching balls at an in experienced 1st baseman.

Nitpicking between Barney and DeWitt, especially when it's to determine which one bats in front of Hill and Cashner, feels like arguing over whether we should be letting a dog or a pig poop on our dinner plates.

Has there been any word on how long Pena's supposed to be out?

Quade said he "could use him late in the game" but they're being cautious. So, I would guess they sit him today and probably tomorrow with the off day Thursday (unless Colvin is horrendous at first).

why not just assume the worst and then bemoan how it could only happen to the cubs?

Or you could just answer the question and not be a jackass.

Pena talking on pregame and saying he thinks he'll play tomorrow. He said he thought he'd be able to play today but they're being cautious.

Sounds good. Thanks.

By "play" does he mean "start", or be available to PH?

EI waits until 13 minutes after to turn on the Cubs broadcast.

I'd probably kick in an extra sum of dough to get the pre and post games. In the meantime, I won't worry about it, I guess.
