How does that happen? That game defies logic really, they had like 8 billion ground ball singles. Oh, teams can overcome a 1-2 start.

It's the Pirates. Now watch them give up a 2 HR.

Usually doesn't happen after the game is over.

I was typing the post and I guess I posted it right after the final out.

You know what, a double play here would be so fitting for the Cubs.

Why would you say something like that? Honestly.

Um.... maybe because they're the Cubs?

Just one of these things has to be different for us to at least be in extra innings:

-The Pena double is instead a grand slam, like it would have been in any other ball park.

-The Pirates don't get that dinky single in the 9th.

-Soriano or Soto gets the run in after Pena hit the double

-Byrd actually drives the ball to get the run in in the 9th

And other stuff that probably would have helped. But of course, everything goes perfectly against the Cubs and we lose. I try to be rational and not believe in any curses, but after dealing with this [expletive] time and time again, I need something to blame. God [expletive] damnit.

Were 1-2 and this one game won't mean much in the long run. This game sucks but it really isn't a huge deal.

Fukudome

Castro

Aramis

Pena

Soto

Byrd

Soriano

Three-headed monster

This isn't hard, Quade. It never made ANY sense to pencil Byrd in at #3 or #4 even with how Aramis and Pena played last year.

Someone needs to take Quade to task for pinch hitting Reed there.

Reed replaced Soriano in the field. Fukudome should have pinch hit for him, but that would be intelligent, and just like the last few years, the Cubs are a really stupid team.

Wait, I thought I was the only one who went "only the Cubs"

Hrmmm.... isn't this an interesting development?

Blah. It was still a good game. Castro is their best hitter by far but the kid has some stuff he still needs to learn in the field. Geo also had a sucky offensive day.

I still don't get why Fukudome and DeWitt weren't hitting there. Why have lefties on the bench when you won't use them?

Technically, Johnson replaced Soriano in the Top of the 9th, but the point remains. Fukudome has to hit there.

Three questions for Mike Quade:

1) Why is Reed Johnson hitting vs a RHP in the 9th when we're losing and Kosuke Fukudome is available?

2) Why is Darwin Barney hitting 2nd, ever?

3) Why is Marlon Byrd hitting 3rd, ever?

Shut up, I'm allowed to complain in the heat of the moment even though it isn't a big deal. That's what game threads are for.

"Perfectly against the Cubs" is meaningless. Why did you leave out Castro's boneheaded decision in the 9th?

Yes please. This isn't a hard thing to figure out.
