Prior had a scoreless inning yesterday with 1 walk.

ERA 1.93 WHIP 1.29 6K 4BB through 4 innings.

I hope he makes the team.

Anyone know what his contract is like that he signed with the Yankees? Was it just a invite? Or was it a minor league deal where he can refuse being sent down/Yankees have until date x to call him up or else he can get out of his contract?

i saw him throwing against the orioles yesterday for a minute. He didn't have the long socks which was disappointing.

I only saw him for a minute, did anyone see/did they say what his velocity was?

It's a minor league deal. He's not expected to break camp with the team and will likely begin the season in AAA.

At least he's playing baseball again.

Every time a conversation like this occurs, I get the urge to poop wherever Dusty Baker has been recently standing.

This is a pretty good answer for the people who were questioning why he didn't just hang it up a while back.

Imagine if he ends up being successful, makes it back to the Yankees, becomes a fixture in the bullpen and wins the WS. People will make movies about his fall, comeback and redemption.

and what if he replaces Rivera...then they certainly will make movies about him. that's a lot of what if's, but I'm certainly rooting for him and will be rooting for the yankees when he's there much like I did when Wood was there.

Talented starter gets injured returns to majors as reliever and wins world series: The Jason Isringhausen story.

They didn't give Rafael Soriano a bajillion dollars for nothing.

mark prior was like, the best pitching prospect of all time... not a "talented starter" who was picked in the 44th round of his draft. plus isringhausen is crazy ugly. freddie prinze jr could play prior easily

yeah exactly the same except for the part where isringhausen was a bad starting pitcher and prior was one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.

"Someone close to Mark should be a true friend and tell him its time to give it up."

If he were to come back after all these years and become the ace he was and should always been, that would be legendary. Maybe the thing movies are made of. If he came back as a solid 7th inning reliever, it would be a nice comeback story.

Prior sent down to the Yankees' A affiliate.

Kinda surprising he was sent down so far. Given his spring, I would have thought he would end up in AAA. It's not like he's some rookie.

Yeah hes going to be monitored closely there. No surprise really. With Prior it's probably not so much a question of whether or not he can get major league hitters our with even crappy stuff, but a question of can he pitch on back to back days, can he loosen up quickly enough to come into a pressure situations. You don't need to be in an advanced league to learn those things.
