Time to re-rank Illinois in their grouping?

The list is alphabetical. You have a weird bitterness going on right now.

The list is alphabetical. You have a weird bitterness going on right now.

Just having a little fun with the discussion from earlier. I didn't see that you posted a new list for today to be ranked.

Rank the next set of S-Curve teams from 1-16 (Illinois reps leave out Illinois, of course):

West Virginia

Arizona

UNLV

Georgetown

Cincinnati

Vanderbilt

Kansas State

St. John's

Temple

Texas A&M

Xavier

Marquette

Florida State

Old Dominion

UCLA

2) Rank the remaining 15 at-larges. In the case of bid theft by non-at-large candidates, the lowest in this list will get bumped off the board.

Utah State

Washington

Villanova

George Mason

Missouri

Virginia Tech

Michigan State

Clemson

Saint Mary's

Michigan

Tennessee

Georgia

Richmond

Boston College

Colorado

3) Rank the bottom 12 auto-bids from the remaining unplaced bids, the aggregate bottom 8 of which will go into the bottom of the S-Curve.

58. MAC (Kent State)

57. Morehead State (OVC)

56. Big West (Long Beach State)

55. Wofford (Southern)

54. Oakland (Summit)

53. CUSA (UTEP)

52. Indiana State (MVC)

51. Ivy (Harvard)

50. Butler (Horizon)

49. Belmont (A-Sun)

48. Gonzaga (WCC)

47. ODU (Colonial)

Also, why in the hell is St. Mary's playing Weber State tonight? Is that for real?

Read about that. St. Mary's wants another win for their resume, Weber State agreed to it because this game will be the difference in allowing one of their best players to qualify for a medical redshirt. Without scheduling this he was below the benchmark.

Bottom of the at-large pool (alpha): Boston College, Colorado, Richmond

For today:

1) Rank the remaining 22 unplaced teams. As bids become "stolen", the bottom of the at-large pool will be replaced accordingly. Potentially 4 bids can still be stolen (ACC, B12, MWC, P10, BE only have teams already in the field remaining).

2) Start building the bracket. This can be done in discussion. We'll start with the top 16 and bottom 18, making sure there are no geographical disadvantages for the better seeds in the first round, and that seeding follows conference rules for the first two rounds.

Kentucky defeated Alabama, denying another bid theft.

Remaining potential bid thieves:

Atlantic 10: Dayton

Big Ten: Penn State (they're not in the field right now)

WAC: Boise State

Anybody have any opinions on the following teams, and/or passing current at-large candidates in the field?

Alabama, Harvard, Missouri State, New Mexico, Penn State, USC, VCU, Washington State

To me, Penn State, USC, VCU and New Mexico have decent arguments, but I'm up for discussion.

Are we sure Purdue should remain a 2 seed? Lunardi has them down to a 4 and I think most of the other bracketologists have joined him.

If we start from the bottom up and the top down with the S-Curve, here are the 1-16 matchups:

East Regional

Cleveland OH

1 Ohio State vs 16 Alcorn State*/Hampton

Southwest Regional

Tulsa, OK

1 Kansas vs 16 McNeese St*/Arkansas-Little Rock

Southeast Regional

Washington, DC

1 Pittsburgh vs 16 UNC-Asheville

West Regional

Charlotte, NC

1 Duke vs 16 Boston University

I switched around BU and UNC-Asheville so as not to nullify Duke's pod advantage with UNC-Asheville.

I think it's a knee-jerk reaction based on two games. Bracketologists in general get way too caught up in conference tournament results.

I think the PSU win should slide them at least past the bottom at-large team currently in our field.

San Diego State throttles BYU to win the Mountain West. I'm tempted to swap them in the S-Curve, especially considering BYU is short a key player.

Here's my ranking of the last 22. It really becomes a nightmarish web with how many times these teams played each other.
