First Rough Draft Depth Chart. Early, but you know, whatever. *Rookies, ?Not signed (yet) Others mean mostly guys I've not heard of and likely not a factor (but you never know)

Now we are at least addressing some issues. Barber can be effective in short-yardage and goaline situations, which were major issues last season. He should get 7-12 touches a game to take pressure off Forte. I'd also like to see Bell get a few touches a game.

With Barber signed, will Taylor get cut?

I hope so. He looked done last season. Not that he wasn't trying, but the tread is off the tires.

Does Taylor have bonuses that hit within the next few weeks? I'd like to see Barber and Taylor battle through camp for backup RB.

Really weird FA period for the Bears

Anyone else find the chaos surrounding a 34 year old past his prime Center rather humorous?

Its funny because I think a lot of people wanted him gone, but at this point, I'm not sure there are better options.

Had there not been a lockout it would have made sense to find a new center, but without OTA's I don't see how we could shuffle so many pieces on the OL and hope to survive without Kruetz.

I like the Okoye signing. He could really excel in this system and is still very young. Unlike Ghoulston, he's shown flashes.

First thing they need to do is slim him down. He came out at 6'2", 302 at the combine. Now he's listed at 315, which means he's probably heavier. He had 5.5 sacks as a 20-year old rookie. Only 5.5 in 3 years since. He's only 11 months older than Stephen Paea. So, he's still young enough to live up to his enormous potential.

This move along with the Gholston move would be wonderful moves if they were accompanied by moves of substance. But right now, the Bears are trying to catch lightning in a bottle with the entire roster.

So the Bears new thing is to sign failed 1st round D-linemen and hope Rod can turn their careers around. Interesting to say the least.

I'm fine with it really. Bears already got a good core so Okoye/Gholston are backup at the moments (DE- Peppers/Izzy/Wooten/Gholston then DT- Paea/Adams/Melton/Okoye and that's not mentioning other DLs either). If you got a good core, why not take a chance on 2 young guys who are low risk/high reward?

They still need to sign at least 2 OLs though. It's the most pressing need on the team.

And hopefully this 1 doesn't die

as far as gholston goes, he's been a 3-4 DE under ryan's system for 3 years. it's going to be a little easier for him in lovie's 4-3, just because he can use his athleticism a little more and focus on just getting to the qb.

Eh...at least if this one dies we didn't lose a draft pick for him.

I'm a terrible human.

Trib reporting we're at an impasse w Kreutz over $500k...

It's really not worth risking having to find and implement a new Center a month before week 1. Just pay him Bears.

But certainly not the only one.
