i just love that fantasy football is the foundation for da bum's relationship with his brother. sounds really awesome.

Because of football they once shared a can of cheese wiz, it was a magical 20 minutes during week 2 of the 2001 season.

We were all still healing then.

Wow, I never knew that the bum was THE Levin Black of the Lafayette Blacks. There is a theory that when his father passes, Levin will actually bypass his older brother (and the rightful heir) for the soccer throne. All because of his adorable baby smile! I love a juicy royal drama!!

Our father was not only the head coach at the largest high school but he also started or helped start a rec league with more than 3,000 kids, his rivals high school program, the two local travel clubs, the only men's league in town and dozens of other soccer leagues or high school programs all over northwest Indiana.

So which was it, young Prince? Did your father start or help start the rec league? Did he create other soccer leagues or high school programs? Or is it all unclear since his legend was told by word of mouth and no sound documentation exists?

I have no idea what any of this means, but there's no way Levin lives past 40 anyway.

Michael Silver of Yahoo says that a deal is closer than many people realize. Also:

The biggest collective moneymaker, a possible expansion of the regular season to 18 games, will likely be tabled for the first couple of years of the deal but ultimately revisited.

While there will be some fast and furious movement among veteran free agents, many will simply re-up with their current teams and put off testing the market until next year or the year after. Look for a lot of one- and two-year deals at virtually the same pay grade as players and teams search for short-term stability amid the madness.

That seems like a tough claim to make given how many people think a deal is pretty close.

The NFL Network reported last Friday that major progress had been made (just one day after reports that talks nearly broke down), so I think you're right that many people already think a deal is near.

Kerry Collins retires. Should be an interesting QB situation in Tenny.

Kerry retiring doesn't really change things, I don't think. I doubt he was expected back anyway. From the sound of it, they're still considering veterans like Hasselbeck, Pennington and others so that they don't have to start Locker right away.

Pennington has already said he's taking the year off and working as an analyst for Fox.

Ah, hadn't heard that. I just lumped Pennington in there since most others had. My guess is that Hasselbeck will be the primary target if he doesn't return to Seattle.

Lower court overturns "illegal lockout" ruling, a win for owners. No idea if this has any implication for ongoing discussions.

Not really, because they didn't rule on the antitrust lawsuit, just the injunction. Player and owners had a joint statement saying that they still want to get a deal done, and they're still talking today. Sounds like there's a potential for a deal by mid-week.
