My favorite thing about stories like that are learning what kind of ass these guys are chasing. Mark Sanchez could have god knows how many ridiculously hot women in NYC and he goes after a 17 year old? And of course Steve Phillips isn't on the level of a Sanchez, but THIS is what he gets caught cheating with?

i enjoyed that mark sanchez story on deadspin. especially the part about texting a 17 year old girl on multiple occasions at 2 a.m. asking if she was out or going out. if she's in bed because she has high school the next day and you're away trying to party, maybe that's a sign that your lives are in very different places and you shouldn't be pursing this.

NFL owners walked away from the negotiating table Wednesday when the NFL Players Association proposed to take an average of 50 percent of all revenue generated by the league, according to player sources.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith briefed club player representatives in a conference call on Wednesday night, detailing his version of the abbreviated session that fell far short of the seven hours that was scheduled between the two sides in an effort to reached a new collective bargaining agreement before it expires at midnight March 4.

Consequently, a five-hour second negotiating session scheduled for Thursday was canceled and no further meetings have been proposed.

If the NFL plans on taking more revenue and going to an 18-game schedule, then they have to let teams expand their rosters, activate more players on game day and guarantee their health benefits after one season, not three.

That's my plan anyway, mostly stolen from Howie Long.

To me, the owners already look fairly bad here. When the union made their proposal for a split of revenue at 49/51 and establishing their ceiling in the process, the owners got up and walked out. Instead of countering and giving everyone an idea of how much work there is to be done.

To me, it already shows the owners as bullies, since they have the ability to withstand a workstoppage better than the union does. There's not a reason to respond in that way, if they truly want to see things get done quickly.

Not making any judgements as to whether this is right or wrong. But that girl must be smoking hot. I mean, Mark Sanchez can do pretty well for himself with girls who are out of high school.

You thought that you were gonna not have to see/hear about Brett Favre this year? THINK AGAIN.

Per various media outlets including USA Today, Brett Favre is rumored to be a candidate for the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

I guess it's a good thing that I avoid any show that has "Dance" in the title, huh?

Sure, but if it happens, you can be sure it'll get coverage on sports shows.

Not sure how either side can honestly withstand a work stoppage. These last few seasons have been incredible for the health of the NFL. Skipping a whole year because they can't come to an agreement on how to split up all the money they are making won't be good for them.

Jumping up from your seat and storming out of the room because you don't like the other side's proposal is rather juvenile. Cancelling future meetings because you were so offended is selfish. There are less than 3 weeks to get something real accomplished. Sit down and work it out. Millions of people are counting on them to do exactly that.

At the very least, they need to show us that they REALLY tried to come together. Walking out the door because words hurt your feelings isn't going to get it done.

Thankfully, this is not true.

http://www.quickish.com/articles/brett-favre-on-dancing-with-the-stars-no-not-even-a-rumor

- On Monday, an entertainment gossip columnist asks Kurt Warner his opinion about which ex-athlete should join "Dancing With the Stars." Warner offered up Favre -- just a suggestion, mind you. The columnist makes a quick call and debunks the idea as anything more than a fanciful -- even clever -- idea from Warner.

- On Wednesday, a Bleacher Report contributor writes about the Warner quote, doing nothing but citing it -- and even agreeing that Favre wouldn't make a good choice. The B/R writer makes no claims about Favre's ACTUAL STATUS.

- From there -- perhaps Googling "Favre" and "Dancing" -- a WCCI-Des Moines web reporter sees the Bleacher Report opinion column at the top of Google News, then twists it into this, yesterday morning:

"BleacherReport.com reported there are rumors that ABC is considering..."

But -- to be fair to Bleacher Report -- its columnist did no such thing.

And so, like a game of "Telephone," WCCI tweaks the situation just enough to spin it into a new orbit.

- Presumably with the imprimateur of WCCI as a "legitimate" news source, USA Today cites the WCCI story as evidence of Favre on "DWTS" as the "biggest rumor bubbling up."

- Under USA Today's presumptive credibility, ProFootballTalk cites: "Per various media outlets including USA Today, Brett Favre is rumored to be a candidate for the next season of "Dancing With the Stars."

What I can't stand is that Goodell is making it out like it's the fans that want an 18 game schedule. Which just doesn't appear to be the case from any poll I've seen anyway. He should just admit that it's his biggest agenda and not the fans or anyone else's. Just another huge payday for the owners really.

It's not really fans, but season ticket holders who either want an 18-game schedule or fewer preseason games.

What season ticket holders want is not to have to pay regular season price for 2 additional preseason games. Replacing one of those with a regular season game makes great sense to me.

While I can usually get 1.5x face or greater for a regular season game I'm not attending, I usually have trouble giving away my preseason tickets...so I love the idea of one less preseason home game replaced with an additional regular season game.

Now, if it's an 18-game schedule + 2 preseason games...I'm not as much in favor of that.

I'm not sure I understand.. you don't want any preseason at all?

Vance wants 9 regular season + 1 preseason game at home.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but I heard about a huge incentive this morning for the owners to let the current deal expire. The judge who ruled in Vicks's favor (along with ruling in favor of the players on several other occasions) apparently will be removed from any involvement in collective bargaining if the current deal expires. This judge has been involved for 20+ years ever since making a ruling in favor of Reggie White that affected some part of the NFL's anti trust exemption. The owners are dying to get the judge out of the process apparently.
