good Lord, al davis looks like that thing from tales from the crypt.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

apparently we aren't the only ones who think so:

and that's from at least a couple of years ago i think. the photos taken recently are much more frightening.

This is the man making personnel decisions for a major NFL franchise.

Seattle fires Jeremy Bates. The Bears were interested in him for OC last year right? Cuz he had a connection with Cutler? Looks like we might've gotten lucky there.

Surprising firing.

Strange thing is that there is very little play on this anywhere. You would think that a team that made it to the divisional round would arrant some story when they fire a cordinator. But more play was given to Tom Cable coming in as OL coach and our DL coach leaving.

Something is happening here. Bates was a reach to begin with and was a McDaniels protege so I understand that interest. I would rather go with a more west coast traditional coach given the roster that is set up.

Well I heard there was another coach that had left the Seahawks because him and Bates couldn't get along or something. Sounds like Bates didn't play nicely with others.

In my opinion this is barely newsworthy, but Carson Palmer is going to demand a trade and will play the retirement card, if he doesn't get it. Blaine Gabbert, congrats, you're a Bengal.

Assuming the Panther's don't draft him 1st. Gabbert is the type that will have a great combine. I wish the Browns would trade for Jordan Shipley.

I think Gabbert will be a decent pro but I want no part whatsoever of drafting him first, especially if the main reason has anything to do with the combine.

I don't blame you as I wouldn't draft him #1 either, but I would not be surprised if it happened.

Titans apparently interested in Eric Mangini as the new defensive coordinator. That's a fascinating thought, though I would have preferred Wannstedt.

We've currently got an exodus of assistants going on, though. Washburn left for Philly (congrats on that one Truffle, he's excellent), QB coach Craig Johnson left for Minny and DC Chuck Cecil won't be retained.

Seems like this is the usual when a HC gets called into question. It's either the HC goes, or a bunch of assistants do. In this case Fisher stayed on.

Yeah, it's no real surprise. Fisher's got one year left on his deal and Bud basically said that he only kept Fisher this year because he didn't want to pay Fisher to sit at home (or coach elsewhere) for a year. What that means is Fisher pretty much has to make a deep playoff run to have a chance to keep his job, I'd say.

If an assistant can get more job security elsewhere, he will – which is what Washburn and Johnson did.

Antonio Cromartie, telling it like it is...

You got our head union rep acting like an a-hole,” Cromartie told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “They got their guys acting like a-holes. So they just need to get their sh– together and just get it done.”

“Honestly, I don’t give a damn if they get mad at me or not,” Cromartie said. “But it’s getting to the point where it’s getting ridiculous when everything is always dealing with money. You’re basically dealing with people’s livelihoods.

“You’re dealing with hundreds of thousands of other people in this workplace from the venues to everyone else. To me, you need to stop bitching about it. If you want to say that you want to get into a room and meet. Then, do it. Don’t just talk about it.”

If anyone needs to worry about people's livelihoods it's Cromartie. His dumbass already has 9 kids with 8 women by the age of 26. [expletive] you white amish family on TLC, Cromartie is on pace to pass you by the time he is 40. Anyways this is funny.

I hate to say it, but the owners have the players in a bad spot. If the owners want a lock out, they're not having to pay player's salaries and still receiving their TV deal money from DirecTV and other broadcast networks. Yes, it'd turn into future credi later on down the line and they'd have to pay it back eventually, but the owners wouldn't be hit like the players would during the lockout.

On the other hand, players won't be receiving anything. And seeing how short some NFL careers are, I think missing ANY games from their side is going to be an extremely tough pill to swallow.

That's why the players did all those decertification votes. My understanding (and I'm not an expert on labor law) is that if the union decertifies, it prevents the owners from being able to lockout somehow. Thus it gives the players some more leverage.

They have set aside money from the union, so they won't be hurting either. Not to mention they make as low as mid six figures per year.

The owners need to not let the likes of Jerry Jones decide their fate. They've been the top sports business model for a long time by treating players and other owners fairly. It's one of the main reasons why they are so successful. They really can't have a bunch of haves and have nots like baseball and keep all their franchises.

Last time we went through this, Paul Tagliabue managed to talk the owners into a deal. It will be interesting to see if Goodell can do something like that.

And almsot as soon as that deal was signed, the owners were complaining about it. I'm not sure it's going to be so easy this time.

I think what's happening is that there is some real dispute between the owners. While a lot of revenue is shared, some owners have greater expenses than others. Others do a better job generating revenue than others, while some owners are content to let things be. I think there are some owners who will refuse to go back to anything that resembles the terms of the old CBA and that's going to be an issue.

Chad Ochocinco is leaving Cincy and Chad Johnson is coming back!!!!!!

If this news doesn't make everyone's day, nothing will.

I do love the fact that Lewis said Bellichek isn't crazy enough to take him, after Chad mentioned he'd like to play for New England.

Jason Whitlock apparently thinks the players are going to cave in immediately when the lockout comes. Makes some great points.....at least on the labor stuff. Forget his conspiracy theory stuff about Cutler and the Bears though.

This is a totally unfair fight. It’s become cliche to say this is an argument between millionaires and billionaires. No. This is an argument between spoiled rich kids and their parents. Once the parents cut off the money, the mouthy rich kids turn bitch quick.

Remember the Republican Guard surrendering before we ever fired a shot during Desert Storm? We’re about to see a reenactment.

Better yet, Roger Goodell is Mike Tyson and DeMaurice Smith is Michael Spinks.

Not a big fan of Whitlock, but this is too good to pass up.

Cromartie had a lot more to say, but I’m not going to waste time repeating it here. He’s not the most eloquent, concise or thoughtful speaker. Let me translate what he said:

“I got baby mama drama and at least nine mouths to feed. I’m a free agent this offseason and need a new contract. DeMaurice better get this (spit) settled quick, because I can’t get behind on my child-support payments.”

Now, the overwhelming majority of NFL players do not have nine kids by eight different women like New York’s fertile, 26-year-old, condom-hating, shutdown corner. But Cromartie is not alone when it comes to baby mama drama among NFL players.
