Cowboys have an interview set up with Rob Ryan to replace Paul P. as DC.

They supposedly have had interest in Nolan, but he may not be available since Miami retained Sporano. Another candidate that has been mentioned is Steelers coach Ray Horton, but they cannot interview him until Pittsburgh is eliminated from the playoffs.

It would be strange to have a Ryan on the Cowboys coaching staff.

You'll get over it when he gets that D to play for him the way Ryans do. He has all the talent he can hope for on that defense. And his aggressive style would fit them to a T, IMO.

No I would love it and think he could be a perfect fit. I can just picture his dad rooting against him just because he went to the Cowboys.

Per the NFL's labor lawyer:

“[W]e told the union that an alternative to 18-and-2 is 16-and-2 but that we were not thinking of continuing the four preseason games, which our fans don’t want us to continue,” Batterman said as part of a broader interview with the Associated Press. “This is about the fans. It is not about the owners and it is not about the players. Those preseason games are about the fans. . . . We said that the alternative to us if we don’t do 18-and-2 would be 16-and-2. We asked the union to consider whether that is their preference, even though it means a reduction in revenues because of the lost tickets.”

That's great news, imo. Though it's probably a way to try to leverage the players.

Yeah, I'm for anything that reduces the amount of pre-season tickets I have to buy. I'd prefer an 18-game season, but if it's 16 and 2, I'd be happy as well.

When this all started they talked about 17 game seasons, with everybody playing 1 neutral site game. Is this all a ploy to get to that point? Take away 2 worthless preseason games and add 1 regular season game. Players have nothing to complain about since they go from 20 to 19 games.

Interesting thought. If you do that, maybe you could have the neutral games be overseas. You could do one every other week through the season, and start getting more of an international audience. I could care less about the international audience, but I know it's something the NFL wants to tap into.

Fox, while coach of the Panthers, had some good things to say about Tebow after his pro day. Whether he still believes any of that, I don't know. A lot may depend on who the OC is and how he feels about Tebow or Orton.

Well this is from his press conference today, so there ya go...

“The thing that’s impressive about Tebow is that he’s not afraid to be great,” Fox said. “He has as good intangibles as any athlete I’ve ever been around.”

Fox also said positive things about Kyle Orton later in his introductory press conference.

“The quarterback situation is better than the one — some of the ones — that I’ve been at,” Fox said.

I would jump at the chance to see the Bears in London or anywhere else in Europe. I'd guess they would not play all games overseas though. There may be a few more Canadian games. You could also hit other American markets that don't get NFL, using available college stadiums.

Haha. I kind of wish he had finished that sentence the way he wanted to - with "the one I just came from".

I think the college town games would be a great idea. NFL in Tuscaloosa? Lincoln, NE? I think that would be exciting.

Probably would use it for strictly international games though. Mexico, Europe, Japan

It would be 16 total contests. Mexico might get one. London maybe 4? The rest of Europe 4? At most 1 or 2 in Japan if they ever agree to actually play there. A primetime game in the US would still just be morning there, and travel is a concern. Have a couple southern teams, Atlanta and Jacksonville or New Orleans and Tennessee, play in Alabama. Put a few games in the Rose Bowl until they sort out the LA market. I think it could be seen as a great option if they end up doing 1 neutral site per team.

If by "awesome" you really mean "annoying" then I completely agree.

Anything on the smurf turf is awesome.

It really isn't. It's terrible to watch. The unique factor got old a long time ago.

I still love it. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm fine with that.

McDaniels is interviewing in St. Louis this weekend. I've been working overtime to try and explain to fellow Rams fans that the Amoeba Offense is not some crazy Mike Martz-like thing. I've seen too many say that it throws down field a lot, which is completely wrong.
