no jason goff and terry were implying that, bernsy was asking what it is that they think specifically he doesn't do that coaches tell him to do and they either couldn't or wouldn't give him an answer.

it's a meatball idea, in that it is a non-idea. people think he's lazy but they won't say why they think so.

bernsy is right, it's his risk-taking, not his work ethic. nobody who isn't at practice or there with him in the film room can say that, so people who say it think that they know what they're talking about but what they're really just talking about is creationism.

Drinky was in agreement with Terry too. It was three against one. I'm not certain that Jay isn't a hard worker, he is just the typical NFL QB. think Jay probably works as hard as the average QB, but I don't think anyone has ever said that he puts in the extra effort. That is partially why Vick is having the season he is this year. He has admitted multiple times that he was the last one in and the first one out. Dan doesn't think there is much behind leadership. But it was either Terry or Drinky that pointed out that people don't want to let Bellichick or Brady or Manning down and that brings out the best in players. I'm not sure Jay has that sway yet.

Well, if Vick says he's the first one in and the last one out, we should believe him. Dude's never done anything to make us doubt his character.

ETA: I'm sure you meant Vick was first in, last out. Not last in, first out.

He is saying he admitted to not being a hard worker before, thus, last in and first out.

I laughed:

Jets coach Rex Ryan is telling his punter and kicker to use their pretty feet to kick the ball away from Bears return man Devin Hester on Sunday.

Martz raved about his work in the film room.

Funny that this topic keeps coming up but I was listening to Waddle and Silvy yesterday and they were talking about all they hear is about how hard Cutler works and that he's one of the hardest workers on the team and sets an example for the rest of the team. I don't think anyone that claims to know really knows.

The Bears are assured of a home playoff game even if they lose out right?

Yes, that's what winning the division gives you. They probably need 2 wins for a bye though, and a reasonable shot at the Super Bowl.

The Martz raving about his film work reminded me of something. Didn't he used to have a hard ass, perfectionist reputation regarding his players? At least that's what I remember of him.

Every time I've heard clips of him on 670 this year he sounds like a super positive, motivational guy. Raving about Olsen's blocking ability or the o-line or the backfield or the WR's, he always seems to take offense to criticism.

he fancies himself a dictator in the mold of a bill parcells, but he has been humbled by having to work for a former subordinate and i think he has a new outlook on life.

So is this "Aramis Ramirez is lazy, part II?"

With less cockfighting involved, yes.

Maybe not fighting, but they're definitely smushing the heads together.

Maybe after losing job after job after job has changed the man.

well, he made the lions offense respectable for a little while and he had nothing to work with in san fran until that crazy [expletive] got hired and you can't really hold it against someone for not getting along with someone as insane and irrational as singletary. in fact, i think it's awesome that singletary got rid of him, if he hadn't, i might not like him as much.

with the bears he actually has the perfect situation: a good quarterback and an old friend head coach that allows him a certain comfort level. martz has been caught on many occasions smiling. even when cutler makes an inexplicable throw, he doesn't get all red-assed.

the coaching staff looks kind of like a family, i hope they keep it together for a while. granted, it's easier to smile about things when you're winning.

The fact that they are all failed head coaches makes me think it is more possible to keep them where they are, but if it takes a Lovie extension to guarantee they are back I'm all for it.
