Dammit, Vikings. Can't you do anything right?

huh?

I don't want to back into the playoffs because the Bears are going to lay down. I wanted them to be playing for something so we could earn that playoff spot.

9-6 with those injuries is impressive. They earned their spot in the playoffs.

Then you're dumb. Better to be all but guaranteed a spot than have to hope for a victory to get in, only to possibly have to play the same team 2 weeks in a row, at their field the 2nd time.

I'm happy that now we should face a Bears team that won't care. On the other hand, I'm not sure how I feel about going to Philly to face Vick. Someone who I don't think the Packers have played well against ever.

That's not important now though. We still have to take care of business and the Bears would love to knock us out. I still don't see that game being easy.

Yeah, who knows what crazy ideas Lovie has. He could still go all out to win. It would be dumb, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

I still have a feeling that the Bears will be prepared to go all out just in case the NFC South games break the right way.

The big difference this makes is now the Bears will know prior to their game starting whether it will matter, and won't depend at all on later games.

Also on an amusing note, the Bears are the first NFC team to clinch a bye.

The NFC south games are both at noon and will be over by kickoff of the Bears game.

Yes, that was what I was implying.

Gotcha now.

You really think that home field advantage in the specific NFC championship game of Bears vs. Falcons is worth going all out for?

No. But Bears fans know that Lovie is not a smart man

Plus they'd have a wildcard team in the divisional game (or the NFC West winner...even better!), and would eliminate the Packers from the playoffs (since having a chance at the 1 seed would mean the Bucs won). Between all that, yeah, I think they'd go for it, at least as long as the game remained winnable.

Absolutely it would be worth going all out for home field vs. the Falcons if the possibility actually presented itself.

It would really suck to see the Bears have so few injuries during the first 15 games, only to suffer a serious injury or two while playing to win a mostly meaningless game.

Other than injury concern, playing the starters is a win/win situation. With the bye coming up, I don't want rust becoming a concern, which could happen with 2 whole weeks off instead of just 1. Look at how rusty the defense was in 2005, and how rusty Grossman was. If we actually manage to beat the Packers, it would only give us more confidence going into the playoffs, and would most likely take a dangerous opponent out of the playoff picture. If we started to get blown out, we can pull the starters and I don't think confidence would suffer as most players would say that their heads weren't 100% in the game, being meaningless and all.

Our injury luck is going to run out if we keep trying it. Besides, the Giants (the likely 6th seed if the Packers don't get in) are a dangerous team themselves, so it wouldn't make that much of a difference. Plus I think the Packers have a better shot against the Eagles than the Giants would, and a Packers win gives us the winner of the 4th/5th seed, which is either going to be a dome team or a pathetic excuse for a playoff team.

Lovie keeps saying that a bye week in the playoffs would be "a chance to take another step with our team". Normally I don't believe crap like that, but considering the team's significant improvement since our Week 8 bye, I'm anxious to see what might be tweaked to prepare this team for another run at the SB.

You're welcome mother [expletive].

I need some opinions of Joe Webb though. Because I've talked myself into thinking that regardless of whatever, that was still a really impressive performance for any rookie QB, 1st round or 6th round. In like 3 hours I've completely filpp flopped from demanding Newton or Mallett to now wanting a stop-gap to compete with Webb. I now it's nonsense but damn he showed me some stones. [expletive] I wish I wasn't so knee-jerk with this stuff.

Anyways, that should have earned Leslie the job. He coached the [expletive] out of Andy Reid. The gameplans on both sides were awesome and the Eagles could never make the adjustments. We dominated that game.

Oh and #4, thanks for last season but you better take next week off. I want to know if we've possibly got something with Joe.

Personally, I thought there was some really good stuff from Webb last night. I don't know that he's the second coming of Vick or anything, but he has potential. I loved how many times he should've been sacked and deked some Eagle in the backfield.

He was spot on with a few of his passes, but it didn't look like the coordinator got too daring with much long stuff, so there is still a lot that isn't known. He also looks pretty brittle. Maybe he can beef up a bit in the offseason. It might slow him down a bit, but while he is very elusive, he could bend and break with the right pass rush.

I thought Webb showed some promise, but he's not much of a passer. I'd still plan on taking a QB early, not some stopgap. Webb needs a lot of work to be a 16 game starter. But he's got skill.

This is just about exactly how I see his performance from last night. He'll be game planned for and have some issues, especially against a team that is playing like it gives a damn. He did make some impressive plays last night, not just running, but escaping and making a solid delivery to receivers. His mechanic and footwork looked decent from what I saw and he wasn't terrible with his accuracy. He certainly has enough of an arm to make the necessary throws. He looked o whole lot better than he did against the Bears, but I would have expected at least some improvement with a full week of practice behind him.
