Sportsradio 1310 in Dallas is saying June Jones turned down Maryland and is staying at SMU.

Probably with a pretty hefty raise.

After watching Pony Excess on espn, you know they have some money. He's done a great job in a short period of time too.

Yeah, he was already one of the highest paid non-AQ coaches in the NCAA before the Maryland flirtation. SMU boosters have got some money.

And the Pony Excess 30 for 30 was awesome, by the way.

I haven't watched that many of the 30 by 30, but that was the best one that I have seen. The replacement players standing next to the other team was funny just to look at from a size difference.

Do yourself a favor and watch more. It's an excellent series. 2 Escobars is my favorite

I haven't seen any of the 30 for 30s other than this one. I planned to see the one about Miami, but didn't get around to it.

I loved the part where the writer was remembering during the SMU/Notre Dame game when Forrest Gregg asked the players who didn't think they could beat ND and a player answered, "I don't think we can beat these guys coach." That was pretty classic.

The Texas boards seem to think he is still the front runner, but at this point I have zero clue. He's not exactly the splash hire, but fits the mold of the young firey DC that Brown wants. I think the splash hire for Texas will come from the OC.

I've heard the public requirements for the position don't fit Wilcox at all. Seven years of NFL experience and other things that Wilcox hasn't achieved yet. Doesn't mean he isn't the frontrunner, though.

I did watch the Ricky Williams one and it was also very well done. The 2 Escobars was one of the ones I wanted to watch.

I liked the 2 Escobars more, but Pony Express was also very good.

According to CFT, sources told them that Maryland is willing to pay up to $3.5 million plus incentives. Seems a bit far fetched.

Yeah I don't buy that at all.

I initially heard that Maryland was willing to pay 3.5 million as well. However, the consultant that Maryland has hired to perform the coaching search has shot that rumor down. He says the pay will likely be closer to 2 million.

That would make him the 5th highest paid coach in the country, and the school would be doubling the HC salary.

As Darren Rovell put it:

The Outback Bowl will feature two retiring head coaches. Both the 46-year-old and the 84-year-old.

fixed. you'll see.

care to amend your prediction?

Yes, most definitely.

I won't speak to the majority of the rumors in that email, but I was basing my hunch off of things I've heard from people themselves in the AD, well before that email made rounds. So its interesting that you have people from one side (AD) thinking and saying one thing and the other side (Joe) coming out and saying another. Whether its 2010, 2011, or 2015, I think PSU/Spanier has a fight on his hands and it won't end pretty.

everyone said that like 8 years ago, that spanier wanted paterno gone and paterno didn't want to leave. this was when PSU sucked (early 2000s) and there was some discontent among the alumni base about the old man. i don't know if those rumors were true, but if they were, it's pretty obvious who came out on top. i think spanier figures that joe will call his own shots and unless he's completely senile, he's not going to be forced to retire.

Mort is tweeting that Charlie Weis is soon to be named the OC at Florida. Why on earth would he do that?

I could only imagine he sees no future as NFL head coach, and wants to get back in the running for a college head coaching job. Maybe he feels being a college OC is a better route to that goal. Or he just hates Kansas City.

Also read that McDaniels would be high on the list for the Chiefs to replace Weis. Don't know if that's true... just read it today.

That would make a lot of sense, considering McDaniel's affection for Cassel, and the ability to rub it in Denver's face. Maybe Haley is pushing Weis out and Charlie knows it.

Combined with the fact that Haley is kind of a miserable prick from all accounts I've heard, that would make the most sense. Although that non-handshake after the first Denver-KC game seems even weirder now.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Not sure what that relationship is but I think the combo of two young hot heads could be fun to watch implode.
