Luther Campbell of 2 Live Crew tweeted that Randy Shannon is going to Texas as the DC. He did call the Miami HC before they named it so he might have some credibility. Still its funny that he of all people might be breaking the news.

Isn't he like the 3rd or 4th highest ranking official in the Hurricanes athletic department.

Now that I didn't know. I just thought he was a big booster for the program.

Malzahn has decided not to accept the Vanderbilt job per ESPN's Chris Low.

yeah, he's holding out for a better job. If he doesn't get the head coaching offer he wants this offseason, then Auburn will be willing to give him 1.3-1.5 million/season to remain the offensive coordinator. I'd prefer Malzahn over Chizik as AU's head coach.

Or Muschamp offering him that at Florida. He is the guy Muschamp wanted at Texas, but he is also the guy most every school who needs a OC wants too.

so Miami hired Temple's head coach and Florida hired a DC with no head coaching experience?

Temple didn't do a thing ever before Golden showed up. I think that's a pretty solid hire for Miami.

Whitlock has been hammering the hire. He says Temple has the biggest budget in the MAC, he's never beaten a MAC team with a winning record and has had success because he's in a big city and able to take more questionable recruits than some other programs.

Seems a lot like Turner Gill to me. They were awful but then in his second year they moved to the MAC which has become terrible. Became a little less terrible, then had one good year and now took a step back this year when the MAC was again, awful.

Come on Andy, you know you want to respond about Gill

The Gill comparison is actually pretty fair, though Golden has had more sustained success at Temple than Gill did.

It does strike me as a little odd that Miami and Florida have now both hired guys that in the words of GR are 'missing a step' on their resume. I don't know if that's a trend or if it's just because the guys who didn't skip a step didn't want the job.

He's staying at Auburn.

yeah, i'm hearing Auburn will pay him 1.3 million a year, and he will sign an extension. If true, this would probably just delay his move to head coaching by one year. However, this doesn't sound like a move an intelligent guy would make if he thought new evidence was going to surface that would lead to Auburn being penalized in some fashion.

Is he thinking Cam Newton is going to stay? I could understand it with the potential NFL lockout, but still I thought all signs pointed towards to leaving being a mid 1st round pick.

I have no idea....I'd be surprised if Cam stays. Without Cam, Auburn isn't going to be a national champtionship contender next year. However, they do have some young talent that could potentially help replace the seniors that will be departing on their offensive line. Greg Robinson, the #30 overall prospect for 2011 per Rivals (one of the top offensive tackles), just committed to AU and Jacob Fahrenkrug , the top JUCO OL, may choose Auburn this week per rumblings I've heard.

$1.3 million for a coordinator is ridiculous. He's making more than many/most head coaches.

Someone has to say it...

Just a small part of the overall team salary, though.

I prefer players aren't the only ones to decide on Auburn despite getting offered more money elsewhere.

He's not exactly passing up a plum job here.

how much would an Auburn penalty really impact his job credentials. Unless it's an SMU-death penalty, he'll have the same or better options next year.

Bill Stewart is stepping down at WV. I will not make a prediction on who takes over.

http://wvgazette.com/Sports/201012131877

Bill Stewart is on record as saying he has no intention of resigning or retiring, either before or after West Virginia's Dec. 28 date with North Carolina State in the Champs Sports Bowl.

The problem is that, likewise, no one who has a say in retaining WVU's football coach will publicly support Stewart, chief among them first-year athletic director Oliver Luck.

where are you getting this stuff from?
