My feeling on the Miller hit is that it'll be a fine after it's reviewed but I still think something like that is pretty much unavoidable.

It was pretty [expletive] vicious though.

The NFL placed divisional games at the end of the season to try to force teams not to take games off if they have wrapped up a seed. It isn't an issue this year.

that's the reason why? I have no problem punting a game to the packers if its the last game of the year and we have locked up a bye. heck we did that in 2006. In 2005, we threw a game against the vikings.

You'd think Jimmy Clausen would play a little bit better considering he's basically playing for his job. If he doesn't win another game or two, Andrew Luck is going to replace him (it seems the prevailing wisdom around the league at this point is there's no way Luck isn't going #1 regardless of who's picking). Granted every time I see a glimpse of them playing the poor bastard is running for his life behind the worst offensive line ever fielded by a professional team, but you've got to show something out there.

Peter King fielded a question from a Panthers fan on Twitter asking if Harbaugh/Luck was a possibility for Carolina. King said, "It would be a great move for them". Well thanks PK, we knew that...that's why everyone wants to know if it's possible.

“I definitely think we can play with the best of them. Yeah, we’ve felt like that all year. I don’t think any team has actually beaten us. I think we’re beating ourselves, not so much them beating us, and we definitely need to be able to get over that hump. It’s all on us.”

i'll give him a pass because he's awesome, but i'm still really annoyed with Burleson for his dancing, just a yard shy of the first down marker, that play really hurt us

King is right on here.

9. Philadelphia (8-4). Michael Vick on the succession of hits he's taken (which, by the way, I don't see the same way he does), to WIP radio: "I'm getting hit after I throw the ball, repeatedly. I'm getting my facemask pulled, I'm getting hit in the head. The calls are not being made. I see other quarterbacks standing in the pocket, and the minute they get touched, there's a flag on the field. This has been happening [to me] the last four or five weeks. I haven't complained, but it's getting to the point where I'm tired of getting off the canvas.''

I watched the Thursday-nighter, and I didn't see an obvious late hit after he'd released the ball. A couple of borderline ones, yes, but nothing to make me sit back and say Vick's getting a raw deal.

I've heard this type of whining by Philly for a while now and it's completely bogus. Big Ben takes many more uncalled questionable hits. Vick runs all around and doesn't slide, that is why he is taking some hits that most QBs don't take.

honestly, how can anyone live in a world such as this?

they should trade the pick if luck is so sought after.

I think every player has to live in that world.

What do you expect? We live in an environment where everyone is a winner for participating, and if everyone just tries hard enough, they can win.

Sadly this hasn't even made ESPN yet, but Don Meredith passed away last night.

It's the top headline.

Yahoo.com just tweeted it 2 minutes ago.

Just added it.

did you watch the penn and teller episode on how this focus on self-esteem and "specialness" is creating a generation of narcissists? totally awesome show.

Right now the Vikings would be drafting somewhere between 9-13. However they're only one game back from the 6-6 crowd which is between 14-19.

This is an extremely tough spot. You always want a good draft slot, but especially when it appears you're going to be drafting your next QB. At the same time, losing 3 of the last 4 will probably hurt the chances that Leslie becomes the next coach.

I want Newton/Mallett and I want Leslie coaching them.

I don't :)

You can have Mallett, but fire Leslie and hire someone horrible who will make sure he's ruined.
