I see no risk in picking up Moss. If he makes things better the season will be worth watching. If he makes things worse it gets Smith and Angelo fired.

It might have some merit. A bye week gives you an extra week to implement a game plan. Plus your players are generally well rested and a lot of nagging injuries are rested. So teams coming off the bye should have an advantage.

But 3-3 doesn't really tell us anything. 6-0 or 0-6 might.

Interesting numbers. I don't know if you can take anything from this, but the Bears are 3-1 after their last 4 byes under Lovie. Last year was a tough loss in Atlanta, where Cutler threw a red zone INT, Forte fumbled at the 1, and Pace false started on 4th and 1 inside the 5 on 3 different red zone trips. But their 3 wins have come against bad teams like SF in 06 (41-10), Oakland in 07, and an 0-16 Detroit team in 2008. FWIW, Bears lost @ Cle in 05 and vs. Wash in 04.

But yeah, doesn't really tell us much. I don't think Lovie has not had his teams prepared coming out of the bye, I just don't think there's just enough to go off of as the Bears either played or were a horrible team for most of those years.

Well they're playing the baddest of the bad this time, so if they can't even win this one with 2 weeks to prep it'll signal a new low.

God. Here we go. Someone comes up with something and it'll be picked up by every meathead Bear fan in the stands now.

This is basically my feeling as well. It has a pretty good chance to be a disaster. But it's also probably one of the only ways they give themselves a shot to do something. Obviously it's a move of desperation, but I think we're at that point, so why not?

David Haugh's writing has really disappointed me since he took over "In The Wake of the News". Something about that column makes those who write it lose at least half of their IQ.

Thank you. I was reading his last column and thinking, "Didnt I used to enjoy reading him?"

per ESPNChicago Tinoisamoa said he didn't think the Bears should add Moss heaping praise on the current Bear WRs.

Is anyone else really annoyed at the fact that some people continue to think we have great receivers? Johnny Knox is the only decent one in the bunch.

Okay, I'm feeling a little better about the Bears now. Simmons is back to saying they are the one of the 4 worst teams in the league after completely moving away from his original 3 worst teams earlier in the season. He guessed Buffalo by 3 in this game.

Well I mean it is one of our own players that's heaping the praise. In fact I haven't really seen anyone outside of the Bears organization that's said that we have great receivers.

I don't care about Pisa saying it, or anybody on the team. The players can say what they want and being supportive is probably good. I would be annoyed at Lovie and Jerry saying it. I think the WR corps is one stud away from being great though. Knox and Hester are both nice options but cannot be your featured receiver.

That's awesome. I love how quickly he backed off his "Bears will go 3-13" prediction when the Bears started off 3-0, calling them frisky and whatnot. And then when the Bears lose a couple of games, Simmons moves into "look everyone. i told you the bears were one of the 4 worst teams in the nfl. i said it back in late august!"

The things I've read from Bills fans suggests they're pretty pissed about having to play this game in Toronto. Apparently the last time they did there were more fans of the opposing team. Might see the same on Sunday.

So looks like it's going to be a dome game at a mostly neutral site. With a rested team and a healthy defense, I think we get it done. The Bills defense is pretty horrid, allowing 34 or more points in 5 of their 7 games this year.

Bears 27

Bills 21

I'm not going to claim the Bears receivers are OK, but I want no part of Moss.

It would be one thing to take a guy with a bad attitude, which he clearly has. In order to take a guy like that, you can't have a somewhat dysfunctional offense with problems. He has to buy into the system, which he probably won't. And one thing nobody ever seems to mention. He's just not that good anymore. His numbers are very pedestrian, even playing on good offenses. Roddy White and Calvin Johnson see double teams all day long also. And they don't have Brady throwing to them in Belichick's offense. He's not turning any team around.

Apparently TEN was the only team to put in a claim. They get him.

One thing's for sure -- Moss can't bag on Fisher and maintain any credibility. Fish is pretty solid, IMO

Merriman to the Bills. Which is interesting to me in the sense that I had already forgotten of his existence.

It's amazing how quickly a guy can fall off the proverbial cliff.

that's what happens when the league takes your steroids away.

Yeah, he went from monster player --> no more roids --> suddenly can't stay healthy anymore --> not good even when healthy.

All in the space of what seemed like a blink of an eye.

"We didn't think he was a good fit for us given where we are in the season," Angelo told ChicagoBears.com. "Not to minimize that he is a very talented player -- his credentials speak for themselves -- but what we're trying to do and will continue to do is develop our players that we have and continue to show the belief we have in them. Don't minimize what a player has to do coming in at midseason to create a niche to help a team. How many players have come in at midseason and made a major contribution? Nothing is as easy as it looks; just ask Minnesota."

Angelo said the Bears did their due diligence on Moss.

"Any time a player who we think could help our football team becomes available, we're always going to talk about him and do our research," Angelo told the team's site. "There are reasons teams let players go, and although I don't want to get into those specifically, those have to be weighed. The player's salary also has to be weighed, as well as the plan for the player. All these things are very important when you're making a decision about whether to bring a player in, irrelevant of whether it's a big-name player or not.

"Again, there are very few players that go to a team at this juncture of the season and make an immediate impact. We're not baseball."

So...picking up Grant and releasing Mark Anderson...well that's ok. Picking up Randy Moss, the timing just isn't right.

BS excuse. They've traded for guys midseason before. This team has no good receivers. They've got a handful of okay ones, but all this BS about being happy where your receivers are is absurd. The better ones are midgets that can't make a play on the ball and the bigger ones never play.
