so the per 82 game thing doesn't muddy it up for you at all? okay, it's clear i guess.

So that's all your hanging on is the word "clear"? c'mon man this is a dumb argument to continue. There are too many of these types of arguments on NSBB.

i'm saying that it's not so clear that it's not up to interpretation. i think deron williams is the best point guard, and people will always believe that chris paul is the best.

i think it's only a matter of time for rose, though. his physical ability is so much more impressive than either of the others.

I know what you are saying, but its just an argument of semantics. It was just a superlative I threw in there. Everything is open to argument when judging how good players are.

rose will never break into the deron williams chris paul gruesome twosome until he learns to play something remotely resembling passable defense. the amar'e stoudamire of point guards. D'Errick Rose.

I know Paul has a ton of steals, but I don't really think you can be a great defender at his size either.

Rose is actually performing half-way decent as an on-the-ball defender. He's not very good at fighting through screens or on help defense, though.

Yeah from my impression Rose has improved defensively this year but I still don't see him being any more than average as a defender at this point. He's been better on the ball but fast guards still beat him a lot, and he still has trouble getting through screens and recovering to get in a good defensive position.

More like Dirk, because he at least tries.

are we going to do another boring 'post your fav PG' discussion or will we talk about the Bulls?

Maybe I missed a recent trade, but I could've sworn Derrick Rose was on the Bulls.

be honest... how many bulls games have you actually watched this season? 2? 3?

rose's defense is definitely passable

rose is closing in on deron and cp3 quickly. i think one year from now, he'll either be tied with them or pass them.

let's not forget about the age difference here. paul and deron have pretty much plateaued. rose keeps getting better and hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

i can't wait to see what numbers he puts up when boozer comes back (for 6 weeks)

"who is the best pg" discussions are awesome now that we can at least mention a player that plays on the bulls

Yep. Rose is definitely not a bad defender. Middle of the pack and probably rising. The only glaring weakness is Rose's game was the three, which the other two you mentioned have. And this year it is at least an option. He could also probably do a little better job of dishing out to another player when he breaks down the defense. I know he doesn't have a ton to work with due to Boozer being out, but it seems that Rose is only looking to score when he beats his man. The big guys begin to converge on him and someone has to be open.

i was really just screwing around. i only catch glimpses of the games on adthe, but judging by nothing other than box scores, other PGs struggle against the bulls. some of that is thibs/adams, but rose is responsible for at least some of it.

The Bulls drop from 7 to 8 in the ESPN weekly power rankings. I guess they lose a spot due to losing a close game in LA against the Lakers. Or maybe its because they lost by 1 point in Denver without Derrick Rose. Either way the Bulls sure do deserve to drop in the rankings based on their performance last week.

Of the seven teams ahead of them, who do you put behind them? I could see New Orleans...possibly. Utah had a better week.

I don't know, I just wanted to bitch about power rankings like I do for every sport every week. They are all slighting my teams. I didn't really look at the other teams.

Bulls are #5 in Hollinger's ratings. Are the Heat still #1 in Sagrin? They dropped all the way to 9th in Hollinger's

Heat are #4 in Sagarin's. I posted them in the NBA thread. Bulls 8th, behind everyone in Stein's rankings minus Utah plus Miami.

i remember how surprised i was when stern decided that playoff seedings would be dependent on espn's power rankings
