I don't know man, but regardless of the 4-2 record I just feel like this club has 6-game losing streak written all over it.

Heck, I'm amazed we got to where we are right now. But everyone's got all the tape they need on us now, it's not like we're going to fool anyone moving forward.

And our offensive scheme plays right into our weakest aspect.

Well its just like last year. Pretty much after the debacle in Cincinnati everyone pretty much knew things were toast. With all the injuries we had on defense and the inconsistent offense, any good team we placed was going to have their way with us. We started 3-1, lost a close game to Atlanta that actually made me feel good about them and then got embarrassed 45-10 by Cincinnati. I think people kind of sensed what was happening. And before we knew it we had lost 8 of 10 games.

This year I feel slightly better than we did last year mostly because the defense will keep us in games, whereas last year any good offense we played I expected them to roll over us every single time they had the ball.

I think there was still some hope left before Arizona. At least I remember being at the game and sensing that people still held out hope for a playoff run. Everybody gets one crap game to write off and ignore. But the 2nd blowout in 2 weeks ended everything. This years crap games have not been blowouts, so it is different. But one of these times it's going to happen.

I feel like this year's "Cincy game" is definitely coming. Vikings in November, maybe. Patriots should blow us to pieces.

It's true, this year has a similar feel to last year. I had nearly forgotten we started out hot last year, too. We ended in such a craphole it was easy to forget where we started.

End of December will likely have a similar feel. Sorry to be a negative nancy on this but this team needs to reach at least base levels of competency to inspire confidence. Even your weaknesses need to be shored up to a greater degree than what we're seeing with this OLine. It's not like we're putting empty jerseys out there. Someone get these guys on a practice field until midnight each damn day, drill the schemes into their heads until they get it, and execute on the field better.

Get it under control. I don't think that's unreasonable at all. Yes they'll still get beat because they don't have good talent, but brainfarts like we see almost every play? That's ridiculous, and should be solved like.....RIGHT NOW.

I felt like the Giants game was this year's "Cincy game".

But that game was close in terms of score almost the entire way. It was a little like it. If they keep playing like this eventually the score will reflect a blowout.

Fair enough...I guess it just felt like it because of expectations coming in. Not that we thought, in either case, that we would dominate the other team, but I think we thought going into both of them that we were capable of playing with the other team. Especially this year, after the Dallas and GB wins.

Maybe we did stay with NY to some extent, but I guess I just felt deflated in similar fashion after both games. NY didn't blow us out, but with the sacks and the Cutler concussion, I felt a similar level of disappointment.

Yeah, it was a similar level of dissapointment, with the same comeback one week later and blowout a bad team (Cleveland last year, Carolina this year). And then the Arizona game last year matches up with Seattle this year. They were 4-4 at that point, but at least now they are still 4-2, so there is room for some optimism.

They only need to win 4 more games for there to be meaningful football in December (in all likelihood).

So we'll be strung along until the very end :)

And then Lovie will be back for another year.

Briggs, Urlacher, C. Harris, Manning, and Wright all practiced today.

If there is such a thing as a must-win game in October this is it.

I disagree. Last weeks Vikings-Cowboys game was as close to must win as you could get in October for both teams. This week if the Bears lose, worst case scenario, they are tied for the division lead and have half the tiebreaker against the team they are tied with.

But I agree with your sentiments that this is an important game.

I don't know why, but I took a stroll around the web right now to see what the media thinks of the Skins Bears game this weekend.

-Peter King picks Redskins 20, Bears 17

-4 of the 7 ESPN guys pick the Skins, as well as the "pickskin pick em" fans. Accuscore has the Bears winning. I'll take the computer's judgement.

-On Yahoo, it's a clean sweep for Washington, as all 3 of their writers, as well as 54% of Yahoo users, pick the Bears to lose their 2nd consecutive home game.

-On CBSsports.com, 3 of the 5 guys pick the Skins, Pete Prisco is not one of them as he takes the Bears. When betting ATS (given as Chicago -3.5), Prisco stays with the Bears, and everyone else sides with the Hogs. Prisco BTW, predicts a 28-17 Bears beatdown.

That's all I got.

Brad Biggs asked Martz if he thought that Olsen was a good blocker when he lines up on the weak side to block. Martz said that Olsen has been doing a great job all season at that and that Biggs should "go look at the tape." No, you really don't want to do that Mike. Is Martz blind or just covering for his Olsen?

I would say it's just as much of a must win in terms of my faith in them doing anything the rest of the year. Lose back to back at home to mediocre teams and most hope is gone.

Correct. If we can't beat these teams then I don't see us beating the Dolphins, Eagles, Pats, Jets, etc. Also, consider the fact that the Cowboys and Packers aren't that good this year, and none of our wins look impressive anymore.

I'm hoping that last week was due to Cutler being rusty and the Seahawks being fresh coming off a bye, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Yeah I heard that Martz answer regarding Olsen's blocking on The Score today and it was really odd. He's been way more sunshine and rainbows than I remember him at previous stops.

What has Tice been like with the media? He was usually way too optimistic with the Vikings but also never really hid anything.

Anything on Webb starting? That was awful last week. When he didnt know what he was doing he had cinderblocks for shoes the other times.

With Garza still not practicing, I think Webb is still going to be at RT. Hopefully, Garza is back after the BYE, Chris Williams goes back to LT, and Omiyale back to RT for the rest of the year. But that's just me speculating.

In a perfect world, you want your first round draft pick at LT. But hasn't Omiyale played a little better there? Frank was probably worse at RT than anything else. I just wish they would pick a position and keep each guy there. No one is going to be good if they play three positions in a year.

With all the talk about the need for continuity, which I believe the coaches actually want, the no brainer is to put Williams at LT, Omiyale at RT and have your backup play G until Garza returns. Then when he returns that's only one change. Playing a temporary lineup until he returns and then switching up 3/5 of your line again is the complete opposite of trying to keep continuity on the line.

On one of the morning shows last week Thayer talked up Webb. Called him an amazing talent.

Then it was like .... yikes.

frank isn't good at much. i'd put williams at LT and shaffer at RT, personally.

Briggs is questionable again and Lovie sounded pretty uncertain of whether or not he would play. With the bye being next week, I could easily see him sitting which is bad news.

It's a must win for the coaching staff. A loss this week means a 7-9 finish may be the best this team can do. I'd hope that wasn't enough to save Lovie Smith's job.

Not feeling as worried about this game as I was last week. This time last week, I had a bad feeling...which turned out to come to fruition. The last time the Bears OL got this much bad press, they came out and ran all over the Carolina Panthers. So, with all the crap getting thrown at them about the OC needing to call shorter drops and quicker routes, the QB needing to get rid of the ball faster, and the OL needing to pick up blitzers....I think the Bears put it together and have an offensive game similar to the Cowboys game, but with fewer big plays.

Last week, my keys to the game were 1. Defense keep playing. I feared w/ Cutler back they would lessen the intensity, and it appears that's what happened. 2. Keep running. The Bears ran 12 times, became 1-dimensional and lost the TOP battle by 10 minutes. 3. Turnovers. The D made it too easy on TO prone Hasselbeck and didn't make any plays. Shoulda listened to me! :D

This week, forget keys. It's nothing special that needs to be done to beat the Redskins. A simple gameplan that's similar for every team in the league just needs to be executed. Washington's D has given up more yards than anyone in the NFL. Run the ball. Don't turn it over. Protect the QB. Stop the run. Rush the opposing QB. Do all of those things halfway decently, you win.
