Hey folks. Didn't see this in any immediately obvious threads in here or in General Discussions.

Per Rotoworld.com:

Sources tell Doug Russell of WSSP in Milwaukee that Bob Brenly is close to agreeing to be the next Brewers' manager.

It sounds like the Brewers are moving pretty quickly here, although Brenly told Russell that he has "nothing to say right now." Brenly led the Diamondbacks to a 303-262 record (.536) from 2001-04, including a World Series championship in his first season at the helm. Oct. 6 - 11:25 am et

That's pretty lame. I'd really miss his commentary, he was one of my favorites. Doesn't help he's going to be running the Brewers...

Depends on who replaces him.

Good luck to Brenly though. I always figured he would get another managers job somewhere.

I'll miss his analysis minus the ax grinding against certain players.

This. I really liked him as a color guy for the most part, and he had a really good rapport with Len.

He didn't talk too much, and he was easy to tune out unless he and Len were riffing comedically about something. If he leaves, his replacement will surely be worse.

Regardless of one's opinion on Brenly, the bolded is hard to disagree with.

I for one really liked him as a color guy. Though I have very very low standards for what a good announcer is.

I didn't think I'd like him when he first started, but that changed fairly quickly. I don't want to see him leave, especially to go to a rival. And I agree that his replacement will probably be worse than him.

BrewerNation RT @mikewickett: Just spoke 2 #brewers GM Doug Melvin: "We havent had any communication w/Bob Brenly. I dont think thats a way we would go. Not on our radar"

You just know [expletive] Ricketts would bring in that loudmouth son of a bitch Grace if Brenly were to leave.

This season listening to him tell stories about slumpbusters would have been better than the actual Cubs.

I almost hope this happens just to watch this board explode. That thread will be epic.

Oh, Christ.

They hire Grace to announce, Girardi to manage and Sandberg to be the bench coach and call it an offseason.

Aside from an anti-Grace sentiment borne out of dumb people overrating him, can someone explain why he'd be so terrible? If anything, he'd be pretty much exactly like Bob.

His voice is bad for one. He tells the same crappy stories every time I hear him speak. And he personifies both the worst era of cubs fandom, the 90's, along with a passionate disregard for Sosa's accomplishments that helped the team actually do something. I hated his whining about being offered a 1 year contract when he was more than happy to live off 1 year contracts before and then accepted less money elsewhere while still whining about being mistreated by the Cubs.
