Aside from an anti-Grace sentiment borne out of dumb people overrating him, can someone explain why he'd be so terrible? If anything, he'd be pretty much exactly like Bob.

He didn't talk too much, and he was easy to tune out unless he and Len were riffing comedically about something.

Because he'd be nothing like your description of what made Brenly a good announcer.

I despise Todd Hollandsworth. Plesac's ok on MLBN as a studio guy, but he's never been a good color guy.

That whole list is a joke.

If Plesac brings the Big Blue Train(wreck) with him, then I'm on board.

My guess is one of the below would get the job:

Grace

Moreland

Otto

Hollandsworth

Plesac

Hollandsworth is ok as a studio guy, but was definitely missing something when he filled in for Bob during the season. As for Otto, I think I would go insane listening to him describe everything as TREEmendous. Plesac is a complete goof, but not a bad analyst. I have to believe that Moreland would be the front runner, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Grace in the booth. His funny stories may get stale and repetitive over the course of an entire season, but I have found him entertaining in the few Arizona broadcasts that I've seen over the past few years.

This feels like deja vu. Wasn't Brenly in the running for the Brewers job last year or the year before?

I don't see why anyone would miss Brenly as an announcer, especially if it meant he'd be derailing a division rival with his archaic baseball notions.

Yeah, I agree. Whenever the Cubs play the DBacks, I have to watch the AZ broadcast because the Chicago feed is blacked out here, and Grace isn't that bad. His shtick might get old over the course of a season, but I would much prefer him to any of the other names mentioned in this thread.

Well, save Karros, maybe.

there should be some arrangement where ryan dempster is the color guy on days he doesn't pitch

Only if he wears the Hooters outfit once a week.

i would be open to stone returning if and only if it totally crushes the spirits of every sox fan and causes them to rip their hair out and walk off of buildings or into traffic.

Stone wouldn't be ideal, but he's light years better than guys like Moreland, Otto and Hollandsworth. The thought of Otto in particular is really depressing.

I wonder if there are any guys we could steal from another team's booth.

It may be childhood nostalgia, but I still like Stone in the booth. He's the only redeeming part of listening to Sox broadcasts for me and I'd be fine with him joining Len in the booth.

Again, though, it may just be childhood nostalgia because I grew up on Harry/Steve.

did you guys miss the part where melvin said brenly is not on their radar

That makes me feel better, but it could just be Melvin posturing. I hope it's accurate, though, because I really like Brenly.

I've come to loathe Stone and his bitter style. I was happy to see him return the 2nd time, but didn't enjoy it as much as I liked him as a kid. And now I just don't want to hear him speak.

I don't have any interest in hearing the moves he'd make as a GM, but that's generally contained to his radio show, I believe. As an in-booth analyst, he still seems pretty good and better than most of the options I've heard. I'd still prefer Brenly, but really wouldn't have a problem with Stone.

As much as he focuses on the Zambrano is too angry, Ramirez is too lazy, small ball is where it's at and nonsensical mental toughness aspect of analyzing baseball, he brings very little to the table. He's really only good for talking about pitching approaches, but even then it all seemed to boil down to "a slider low and away here and he's got him."

Brenly is pretty big on the Z is too angry and Ramirez is too lazy as well. He also rails on Soriano too much. And maybe I've just heard good Stone games recently or something because I haven't heard that much small ball love recently from him. It could be there and it would bug me, but you'll get that with almost any analyst.

They all love to see sac bunts and moving runners, etc.
