We no longer have the longest active postseason losing streak as Minnesota just reached 10 games with theirs

At least there's someone who can out-Cub the Cubs.

You're kidding, right?

No, not really.

Not going to turn this into a big thing (as I'm sure a lot of others will. I'm hunkering down for a lot of flame and hate to be thrown my way), but you said that WE had the longest postseason losing streak. The Cubs did. And now it was passed. So at least there was someone who craps the bed worse than we do in the playoffs. That's quite a feat.

Not all of my "only the Cubs" statements have been warranted. Some were said merely out of frustration. But there's truth behind a lot of them. Like this one. And a lot of others. But, like I said, I've stated my case on this before, as has everyone else, so I'm not going to get into it.

Until this year the Rangers had the exact same streak. The Twins are at 11. Check out the Dodgers' streak until they faced the Cubs in 2008. There's not a lot of "truth" to any kind of "only the Cubs" sentiment here. They're simply one of many teams to have had postseason losing streaks.

According to ESPN's Game Score, Lincecum (96) just had a better game than Halladay's no hitter (94).

I think they need to come up with a new formula.

So all no-hitters are automatically better than games where a pitcher gave up a hit?

Not all, no. But Halladay's no-hitter IMO was better than Lincecum's 1-hitter.

That bum Halladay should have struck out more batters.

NY Times' take.

As I read that article this morning, I remember thinking, "Hmm. Interesting piece of analysis to find in a mainstream newspaper."

Then I read a few of the comments. I sometimes forget what visceral disgust the notion of "luck" on batted balls in play inspires in the majority of baseball fans.

ah there are those dusty baker fundamentals i know and hate

Phillies' fans were waving lots of distracting white towels. Bruce is just lucky that soft liner didn't hit him in the groin.

yeah i thought charging bruce with that error was harsh, but they made two errors that led to the phillies' first two runs and brandon phillips just dropped the ball on the exchange after the bruce error, allowing werth to score.

he also mismanaged the 8th inning, allowing masset to face a number of LH batters (and walk them all intentionally) with bill bray (very tough LHP on LH batters) just farting around in the bullpen.

I was just making a (apparently obscure) Matt Holliday joke.

P.S.: Grammar question: "an (apparently obscure) Matt..." or "a (apparently obscure) Matt..."?

P.P.S. I apologize for asking grammar questions in the playoffs thread.

oh any references to holliday's gaff are very welcome on this board. that is my favorite game in several years (probably have to go back to game 5 against the braves in the 2003 LDS for a game i enjoyed more)

[expletive]. Every one of these [expletive] series are going to be sweeps.

TBS has had some insanely bad luck with the playoffs since they got this contract.
