If someone told me in 2004 that 3 of the 5 longest championship droughts would have ended in the next 7 seasons, I would have been really excited at the Cubs prospects of a title.

lol I'm listening to the Rangers postgame radio show, and it's hilarious the host can't get a single Ranger fan to call into the show to talk about the game. One guy finally called and when he picked up excitedly, the caller hung up. I cant wait for someone to call and start talking about the Cowboys.

Perfect prank call opportunity, man!

The Giants should enjoy this because it's going to be the last time they savor anything except for 82 wins for a long time. Look at how horrible this roster is: Pat Burrell, Aubrey Huff, Freddy Sanchez, Edgar Renteria, Aaron Rowand, Barry Zito, Juan Uribe...Sabean is such a terrible GM and I'm livid that he's going to be rewarded for building bad teams that got him Lincecum, Posey and Bumgarner.

Is Sabean that bad? The Zito signing was horrible, obviously. Lincecum, Posey, and Bumgarner were top 10 picks, sure, but it's not like the top 10 doesn't have a fair amount of flameouts. Hitting on three players of that caliber in a 3 year span isn't very common.

Which only goes to show you how lucky they were.

I'd ask that someone for lottery numbers.

A regular-season NFL game has earned a higher television rating than the World Series.

The "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the last two Super Bowl champions drew an 11.8 overnight rating and 18 share. Game 4 of the World Series had a 10.4/16.

NBC said Monday this was the first time an NFL game outrated the World Series.

The Saints beat the Steelers 20-10 on NBC. The Giants defeated the Rangers 4-0 on Fox.

That might quickly change. If there is a labor stoppage after the NFL CBA is up and there are canceled games, fans might leave as quickly as they did baseball in 1994.

Ok, maybe not that quickly if the Super Bowl isn't canceled, but still.

I switched back and forth and neither game was really that engrossing. I wanted to watch the WS.

on another topic..My brother lives in the Bay Area and he is really starting to annoy me with this Giants get no respect crap. It seems to be a topic that has run wild out there. Get over it, one team had to be the underdog!!!!! Also, get over the fact that you are way to West for ESPN, everyone already knows that. Do like me and a lot of people I know do, we don't watch ESPN sports pundit programming. You will be a much happier person.

I can't believe the Giants are gonna win the world series with some of the bums they have in their starting line-up.

Me too. I know how good their staff is but it's gotta be one of the bigger upsets of my baseball life. The whole playoffs that is.

Man and Dusty isn't even here to screw this up.

Congrats to the Giants. You've probably had 10 better teams since you moved to SF but you finally got your World Series championship

At least Barry Bonds didn't win the World Series.
