yeah i could easily see oregon blowing it against usc or cal or oregon st.

Oregon's defense impressed me last night despite the 31 points. 17 were off of turnover, but they played very fast and physical.

Ball State beat Central Michigan 31-17 to equal their win total (2) for all of 2009.

A very pleasant surprise. Either the MAC is really really historically awful (more likely) or Ball State just played their best game in 2 years. Actually, both of those are true.

With Western and Eastern the next two, both at home, BSU might actually have a prayer of starting 3-0 in the league.

Considering that Eastern and Western Michigan are a combined 1-8 at this point it seems like that should happen. If not for the loss to an FCS team (Liberty) that would have meant a 5-2 start with the only losses against Big 10 teams. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

The end of the LSU game befits their head coach.

How many times are they going to royally eff up the end of a game with clock management? It was iffy to run on 2nd down with 35 seconds in the game anyways; then you completely switch personnel as the clock is running out?

And then Tennessee had 12 guys on the field. Talk about bailing out Les and LSU.

That guy is something. He's truly an awful coach and a total ass to boot. LSU fans realize he's terrible right? The media certainly doesn't. I mean I guess you have to give him some credit for their talent but when you take over a program like that coming off a national championship, the talent is going to come regardless.

Watching USC not only lose, but to be given no chance to respond, based solely on the stupidity of their head coach was very nice. Actually, I don't think it is even stupidity, to be honest. I think it's arrogance, plain and simple.

What did he do?

Bolden actually impressed me a little last night. Penn State is going to have a tough time in every Big Ten road game but he showed some promise. He stood in the pocket and didn't look to run and had some success when he started taking the underneath stuff which he was accurate on.

That was kind of a strange game. The crowd was awesome and the first half was great. Then it was like the entire second half was just bleed the clock time and let the defense clean things up. I really hope Jewel Hampton's injury doesn't cost this team a game this year. They could really use a legit second back, especially one with a little explosiveness.

Stanzi continues to play really, really well. The pick was a really good play by that FS. The bye week is going to come at a really good time. Hopefully MSU can beat up on Denard a little before Iowa has to chase him around.

Now that's some awful clock management by Penn State.

And that was even worse. 6 seconds left at the 3 and they decided to spike the ball instead of using their last TO. The spike cost them 3 seconds, THEN they got a delay of game, forcing them to go for the FG instead of the endzone. All with a TO left.

That was just bizarre. What are you doing not using the timeout? It looked to me like Joe Pa was trying to signal for it. Before the delay of game one of the coaches was freaking out trying to get a timeout called with just under 10 on the play clock. Their red headed assistant was pushing him off the field, and looked right up at the clock like it was fine. Then when they were called for delay of game he was arguing with the official.

How about their decision to punt on 4th and 6 at midfield with 4:40 left and down by 14? WTF are you doing? They conceded the game.

The only explanation for that one is that their coach is really old honestly. I have no idea why they punted on that play. It really made no sense at all.

USC isn't going to beat Oregon. Monte can't defend against the spread.

I'm terrified for the rest of Michigan's season. 2 more wins please and I'll be happy.

you'll beat Penn State. No way PSU can win a scoring fest

Who do you put ahead of them? Their only loss was @ Oklahoma close.

(Oh, a Northwestern fan, never mind.)

Kansas State.

Or anyone without a loss.

Indiana's defense averaged a point allowed every 26 SECONDS on Saturday. That's just mind blowing.

No offense to our Northwestern posters here, but I see absolutely no reason why NW should be ranked. 2 point win over Vandy, 5 point win over Central Michgan, 1 point win over awful Minnesota. Sure they are undefeated, but they've played no one and won close games over bad teams. They don't look like a team that can win any game against a halfway decent team.

I don't like to rip on Northwestern because they are probably my 2nd favorite Big Ten team but it's just weird that they are ranked.

For the record I don't think Michigan should be ranked either. They won't be for much longer.

I actually think this weeks game against MSU is fairly winnable for a few reasons. 1) it's at home, 2) it's a rivalry game, 3) Michigan's players have to have a lot of confidence right now being undefeated so far this year. If it came later in the year after we surely lose a few games, the confidence might not be as high.

We just need 1 of our last 7 games to get to a bowl. Please do this.

welp, you lost that iowa state bet.

you were saying?

i should have known better than to go against a guy who went 6-7 or whatever on the week.

Yep, which is why I wish they could have taken more time on the final drive. Not much you can do though. Gotta make a stop on defense.

Also, Michigan St. goes into the Big House and wins this weekend.

What can I say -- NU plays to its competition, up or down.

I completely understand your point. However, if Michigan is ranked, and Air Force is ranked, Northwestern should be ranked.

Also, where's the love for Dan Persa?
