"he's arbitration eligible and not going anywhere"

well why the hell not? can't they non-tender him? he's probably going to be overpaid and underperform for a second baseman next year; the smart move would be to let him walk. (note: ned colletti is not smart)

They probably won't offer arbitration to Lilly either so for them to take the two guys they traded for and then basically toss them both away for nothing a couple months later wouldn't reflect too well on Colletti and his talent evaluation.

haha I love it, a GM makes a mistake, and the best thing to do supposedly is to make another mistake (offering Riot arby) so it seems like the first mistake wasn't as big of a mistake.

Like someone else just said, I expect Colletti to make matters worse and offer him arbitration, since it didn't work out for him this season. I also expect the Dodgers to keep Lilly personally, most likely on a 3 year deal at around 10 mill per or so. If I were a Dodger fan, I'd actually be much more upset that they gave up McDonald and Lambo for a month and a half of Octavio Dotel. They're only getting a PTBNL back for him at this point and since it's came out the Rockies aren't planning on exercising his option next year, my guess is the PTBNL can't be much of a return.

Jim Hendry's one redeeming factor is that he can identify a talent that is about to go down hill and get rid of it

wait, what? Hendry acquires bad declining players all the time. This isn't a strength at all.

The Dodgers appear to be stunned that Ryan Theriot turned out the be.........Ryan Theriot.

But he's so gritty. Who could have seen this one coming?

my guess is he will do something gritty to help the Dodgers win a game next year and all will be forgiven.
