At least Hammer took a piece of Raymond. If you're going to lose, at least kick their asses in a little.

That was vancouver's strategy the last 2 years

Say goodnight, assholes.

Frolik, you idiot. Why don't you try scoring once in awhile, sorry piece of [expletive].

If nothing else comes out of this shitty season, Ben Smith came out of it. That kid can play.

One last game as defending champions before we pass on the crown. What a lame season this was. Oh well. Hopefully Vancouver chokes against someone else this year.

I think Leddy can play as well, we haven't seen much of or from Morin but, he's only 20. While frustrating the Hawks will be strong contenders for the Cup in years to come.

Yeah, if nothing else, I think they got Crawford, Smith, and Leddy out of this season.

Don't know their cap situation but, with the Sedins, Luongo, Kesler drawing some big bucks I could see them in the Hawks position next season.

Just forget about it. We've got a cup, and D. Rose.

Plenty to be happy about.

So frustrating on those last couple power plays and then 6 on 5 with the empty net and we can't even set up in their zone to get a shot on net.

Yup...just about everything went right for us tonight and we still lost. 2/7 on the PP in a must win game Is not gonna cut it.

The bottom line is that we just aren't good enough this year. We have a good core but the 3rd and 4th lines consist of borderline NHL players. You can't win with that depth and you certainly can't win when some of your good players get hurt. It was a very bad year for injuries in a year we needed to be fortunate with them.

Just wish we could have gotten 2 more points and actually had a competitive series that we could hold our heads high after win or lose. Sucks giving up that mental ownage of Vancouver that we had.

this is why i considered the last sunday of the regular season to be a massive failure despite the fact that they snuck in the playoffs. i knw vancouver was going to work us. they needed the 5 seed. they weren't winning a cup this year anyways, but we at least could have maybe won a series against anaheim (prob would have been favorites, actually). it would have been better than getting humiliated in the first round and give vancouver the satisfaction of knoing they aren't our bitches anymore.

it was obvious all year that this team just didn't have "it". even when their backs were against the wall late in the season, the couldn't muster up enough energy and fight to win games consistently.

hawks should have been better all season long and constantly lost the battle of effort against the other team. hawks had what... like, the 4th best goal differential in the NHL? and they barely make the playoffs?

it's not for all the BS late losses in games we should have won, we'd have been at least the 4 seed and right there with detroit and san jose. of course the injuries didn't help, but still. this team should have been higher than an 8 seed.

they're actually in pretty good shape i think. the sedin sisters each have a cap hit of $6.1m, which isn't bad at all for what they give you. kesler (love him) is a steal at $5m. same with samuelsson at $2.5m, and these are all long term contracts.

they'll lose at least one d-man i would think - bieksa, salo and ehrhoff are all UFA. would assume they just let salo walk, given his health and age.

It's tough being upset about this team this season. They weren't very good all year long and they're getting beat by a team that's just better than them in this series.

Like dexter said, it's really unfortunate that we didn't beat Detroit last Sunday but that's just been the way this team has gone about doing business this season.

Whatever. Rest up in the offseason and get them next year. Go Bulls.

Rest is the key. Those 2 extra months of rest will really help some of the guys, and the sting of likely getting swept in the first round to a rival will refuel the mental fire and hunger that has obviously been lacking at times this year.

Also, why the [expletive] was John Scott out there with the PP unit?

John Scott is my scapegoat for the season. Proof that your enforcers have to actually have some hockey skill.

Oh and they also need to, you know, enforce.

To be honest with you, John Scott didn't play too poorly. He had some hits and didn't blow any big defensive assignments. He had an open shot and put it on net, but didn't score.

I'd be more worried about Marian Hossa missing in action and Duncan Keith allowing that guy to get behind him for the 2nd goal.

I dunno, when his job was to go out and hit people (as he said pre-game), and hes constantly looking for someone to hit, I consider it a failure when he goes after and hits someone without the puck right in front of the ref and draws a penalty that leads to a Canucks score. In 5 minutes of ice time he managed to alter the game in the Canucks favor.

Not coincidentally, he didn't see the ice again after that stupid penalty.

Scott on the power play was an extremely desperate move by a coach who knows his team is out-gunned.

The penalty was dumb, but the failed 5 on 3 was the game changer yesterday.

I watched quite a bit of hockey the final week of the season because Center Ice was free. Just about every time a team had a 5 on 3 PP, they immediately converted on it. It seems like the team that doesn't score on the 5 on 3 PP eventually ends up losing the game. I knew that would come back to haunt us yesterday when it happened and sure enough, it did.

And Scott's not my scapegoat this season. Not even close. The defensemen, not named Nick Leddy, get that award from me.
