btw, niemi got lit up again tonight. 9 goals given up his last 2 starts, and 11 overall in 3 starts this season.

 

I'm rooting for all of the ex-Hawks besides Niemi. It's not anything against him, but more so his agent and the idiotic/bandwagon fans who choose to pile on Turco while thinking Niemi's the best goaltender in the league.

 

Oh yeah, he also plays for the Sharks.

Yeah this is the big one for me.

 

Yeah, the other stuff just makes it a little easier. But I'm definitely rooting for Atlanta in the east, because of Buff and Ladd.

 

Anybody else find it odd that the Blackhawks and Penguins have played 7 games already and there are 8 teams who have only played 4 games? It's not just a matter of the European trips either. And it's not about to be reconsiled quickly as Chicago plays 3 times in th next 4 days while Pittsburgh plays twice.

My guess would be because we aren't traveling as much with a heavy home schedule in October so there are less off days, whereas in November the Hawks are traveling the majority of the month because of the circus trip.

i just don't see why the sharks thought it was a good idea to go from nabakov to niemi/nittymaki. playoff performances aside, nabakov is a good regular season goalie and one of the reasons they've been a top seed the last few years. those other 2 guys are mediocre at best.

Edit: Just saw Dexter posted this in the NHL Gen Thread, but going to keep it as most people I'm sure don't even know there are other NHL teams :D

He's currently enjoying an indefinite suspension from the NHL pending a hearing. Kudos to the league.

before i even thought he was an option.

 

if he sees the same quality and quantity of shots that our goalies saw last year, he could get around 2 GAA again. plus he's kind of cool to watch.

 

I love the all red pads. Though I don't think that's what you meant by cool to watch.
