somebody delete this thread, this guy is terrible

Or change the thread name to "Wow Castro Sucks at defense"....

Only kidding but damn I hate when Castro does this... Now idiotic Cubs fans will be in Steve Stones corner as the next GM of the Cubs and want to move Castro to LF.

we need him to be a better fielder just because I'm put off by Keith Moreland pronouncing error as "era."

Moreland at times sounds disturbingly similar to Phil Simms.

Agreed. Simms irritates the hell out of me but somehow (perhaps it's Pat) I tolerate it with Moreland.

Castro will be fine on defense eventually. Is anyone concerned that he is been slumping a bit of late since Quade started moving him around? .244 in his last ten games. granted an extremely small sample size. But since moving into the 3 hole more often he seems to have been alot less patient.

Starlin simply needs to make an adjustment that he has yet to do. Pitchers are no longer throwing him a ton of strikes, counting on his aggressive approach to get him out. Starlin has great plate coverage and so he's able to make contact on a lot of bad pitches, but he's just not able to do anything with them nor hit them hard.

He is going to have to start taking some walks or pitchers are just going to keep throwing him balls and letting him get himself out.

I know that is the conventional wisdom, but I haven't seen that from how pitchers are approaching Castro. He's had a lot of hittable strikes lately that he just isn't hitting very hard. In fact according to Fangraphs, Castro has gotten more pitches in the strike zone than most of the team.

It seems like there have been lots of pitches up high or down and away that he's been swinging at. It seems he's chopping grounders, etc., instead of really hitting the ball hard. I might be wrong, though.

Starlin Castro is currently 5th in the majors in SS OPS. Second in average, 5th in OBP, 5th in SLG.

Even more encouraging to me, let's say we eventually have to move him to 2nd base ... he'd still be fifth. HE'S ONLY 21. I'm calling it now, 3,000 hits.

"Cassie/Cassy" is the worst nickname in history of MLB.

This alone is reason to fire Mike Quade.

What's Jason Heyward up to these days?

He hit 0.098 in May. What was his injury? He only has 3 xbh since May 1.

Apparently he went to Camp Colvin too

Is that the camp where they puncture your lung with a shard of wood.
