crazy goal there. completely offside right?

How? The first guy to cross the D was the guy carrying the ball.

Didn't one guy dump it into the guy who eventually kicked it toward goal?

ruud gullit is calling for fifa to punish people like the chilean player who drew the red card by flopping... Amen to that.

Fifa has to step in and start reviewing cards. I doubt this happens till someone replaces Blatter though. 10 Cards in the last match. 4 in the 1st 25 minutes.

The ref for the Germany-Serbia match was card-happy also.

what an ass kicking... poor north korea

Poor best Korea is right. Unfortunately, Portugal is smart to do this as it builds their Goal Diff to a spot where CIV won't be able to catch them even if Portugal loses against Brazil.

Although at this point, just let the game end.

Even though they're technically still alive, we can say goodbye to Ivory Coast.

If you watch this video, I think you can see offsides, and the studio analyst guy said he thinks he was offside. One dude dumps it in between two teammates, at least one is well past the last defender when that pass is made, which, in my rudimentary understanding of the rules, is offsides.

On the Chile goal, it's very close but I think he's probably a half step offsides. The angle of sideline camera makes it look worse than it is, plus the fact that he's not in proximity to a defender laterally.

Frank De Bleeckere will be the referee for the USA-Algeria game.

You've been warned. 8-)

Honestly, I can't blame the ref too much for the red. Behrami was swinging his arm/elbow back at two defenders in a period of about 10 seconds and the last couple of swings were pretty aggressive. It was very blatant and very stupid.

It should have just been a yellow, though.

Would have been his 2nd yellow.

No it wouldn't. He didn't have a yellow already.

For Spain to advance now, it has to win its last two and outpace the goal differential of either Chile or Switzerland. Or hope Honduras beats Switzerland.

Either way, Honduras is likely in for a beating today.

All five South American clubs are leading their respective groups after two rounds. Crazy.

The other group leaders are Slovenia, Germany and the Netherlands.

The goal differential won't be a problem at all for Spain. Chile has the worst goal differential that a team can have with two wins in two games. Taking that into consideration, they're on relatively shaky ground right now and are likely going to need to get a point off Spain to advance. If they don't, they'll surely finish behind Spain on goal differential and then the Swiss just need to beat Honduras and score two goals to guarantee advancement.

They've scored the fewest goals a team can in two wins also if Spain and the Swiss win games 2-1 or something, they'll be ahead on goals scored also.

With a little luck (and being able to convert a penatly), Spain could easily be on their way to matching Portugal's seven goals.

Not getting a penalty on goal is a tough way to fail on a hat trick.

For now.

My golden boot bets.
