I'm not sure how Nigeria didn't tie it up there. Astounding miss.

and this pk would have been able to put them through if they could hold... wow

In all likelihood, they wouldn't have gotten the PK had he knocked in the first goal.

ARG has 79% possession at the moment.

Greece is the reason I love, love, love that the tiebreaker is most goals scored rather than fewest goals allowed.

A few quick thoughts about Wednesday's match:

1. I think the resiliency shown in the Slovenia match has given the U.S. tremendous confidence to win vs. Algeria. The believe they're one of the top two teams in the group and I think they will show that tomorrow.

2. [expletive], they've got to play tighter defense, especially in the first 15-20 minutes of the match. Algeria is not a strong side but there's no good reason that the U.S. should be playing from behind again.

3. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but winning the group would be huge in terms of long term prospects of going deep in the World Cup.

Just score first. If we score first, it's over. While they might get a point, Slovenia isn't beating England, and if we get that first goal I think you see at least 2 more from the US(although they may concede one or even 2). I'm tired of being on the precipice, make it happen, fulfill expectations.

Maybe this is the homer in me talking, but I think the U.S. wins comfortably, like 2-0/3-0/3-1 tomorrow. I look at the game against Egypt in the Confederation's Cup where they needed to win at least 3-0 to have a chance and got it done, and Egypt is a better team than Algeria (despite Algeria making the Cup over Egypt).

Algeria still has a chance to advance so they have to attack some - well, I assume they're going to do that rather than pulling a Greece and just sit back - and and open game favors the U.S.

And I agree with TT, score first and the U.S. is good.

This has been my thought for a couple of days. Still nervous, wishing I called in sick instead of espn3. I'm glad Algeria has a chance as it will open up the field. No mistakes in the 1st 15 minutes.

Lineup:

Dolo-Boca-Demerit-Bornstein

LD Mikey Edu Deuce

Gomez-Altidore

Bob Bradley is brave as hell. Bornstein in and Gooch sits? I agree with the latter, the former scares me. I'm not a fan in general, but I'm pulling like hell for him to repay Bradley's faith today. His speed on the flank is probably needed.

Have Boca/Jay been paired together at all?

Gomez over Buddle also is surprising.

TT is right. Score first. Losing today would be a failure.
