Whats the over/under on that # of times Mexico fouls Messi?

I'd say that there's an 80% chance Marquez gets a red card for a tackle on Messi in the last 10 minutes if Mexico's down at least two, but they're teammates at Barcelona so he might have someone else do his dirty work.

It's good that Messi takes most set pieces, because I think they were planning on having Gio Dos Santos cover him otherwise.

Group B getting interesting right away.

Nigeria, despite not having any points, would advance with any win and any Argentina win due to better goal differential than both Greece and Korea.

Wait that doesn't make any sense. How can Nigeria advance if Greece beats Argentina? In that scenario Greece and Argentina both have 6 points and Nigeria 3

is there any incentive for argentina not to draw?

None at all. The only way they fail to win the group is if they lose, and even then it would likely have to be by multiple goals since they're at +4 while Greece and Korea are at -1.

Oops, meant Argentina win. Argentina would have nine and the other three would all have three points.

Had to be a typo. Any Nigeria win and any Argentina win.

Ahh yes I just figured that out. Seems like the most likely outcome at this point but of course as long as Nigeria is beating S. Korea, there is no incentive for Argentina to win.

I believe that if the US advances to the quarterfinals as the winner of the group, they'd play on a Friday afternoon. If they advance as the second team out of the group, they'd play on a Saturday morning.

The lone negative to avoiding Argentina.

Jon's right, Friday at 1:30 CST for winning Group D and making the quarters, Saturday at 9 CST for finishing 2nd and making the quarters and likely playing Argentina.

Am I misreading something here? No game starts before Saturday by this bracket....

EDIT: nevermind...didn't realize he meant quarters...duh.

Saturday and Sunday are the Round of 16 games.

Win the group and we would play the second game Saturday and then the second game Friday, July 2 with a Round of 16 win. This would be against either Uruguay or whoever finishes second in Group B.

Finish second in the group and we would play the first game Sunday and then first game Saturday July 3 with a Round of 16 win. This would be against either Argentina or Mexico.

I was talking about the quarterfinals, not the round of 16.

Forward thinking, I like that. 8-)

I've had the 3 group stage matches and the 2 possible round of 16 times marked off on my Outlook calendar for months.

But I just remembered that my office is closed on Friday, July 2nd, so doesn't matter to me.
