Speaking of endorsements, everybody's favorite commentator David Kaplan said that Nike will offer LeBron the biggest deal in company history if he goes to Chicago.

That implies that they wouldn't if he goes to Miami or NY?

Couple of things:

1) Bosh and LeBron wouldn't be able to get max contracts, which means they need to make it up in endorsements. Easy for LeBron, but for Bosh...

2) Further to my earlier comments about Wade, I never realized what an arrogant ass he is until now.

Bosh will take a max and Lebron will take a cut. If they are really serious about this they can make it work.

I don't know what make you think either of these guys plan on taking a cut.

It seems that every single time he talks about sports, Kaplan has this really big time executive from some industry who knows the answer. He's probably talking about his favorite Foot Locker associate.

Especially Miami, I'd think.

Am I missing something or if Miami wanted to sign all 3 couldn't they sign all of them to max deals as long as Wade is last? If that's true, I see that as much more realistic than one of them taking a pay cut.

Edit: Oh, I didn't realize there was a cap hold even if that player is a free agent.

Yeah, consider the source.

I realize...it wasn't so much a serious question as pointing out the ridiculousness of the "rumor".

i said this earlier, and i think it's correct, but i'm not sure.

i think the league is holding it's breath that this will not happen. no one in the country will want to watch the heat dominate basketball. ratings will drop, interest will wane.

the bulls carry enough fans due to simple population and geographical factors, not to mention that historically they've carried the league when they've dominated. if the heat begin dominating, goodbye nba as we know it.

viewership would be so terrible that stern would have to declare martial law, immediately revoke bird rights, lower the salary cap and break up that team.

As of right now, the Bulls cannot sign two max contract players. But whats to stop someone like Chris Bosh from signing a one year deal for less, and then resigning with the Bulls for a max 6 year contract the next year? Any money he would lose on that first year deal would theoretically be made up in the next deal and more with the extra year. This would be legal, since you can go over the cap if you are signing your players, right? Just thinking out loud, since this is pretty much all Ill be thinking about this week.

Or maybe even a 10 day contract, and then on July 18th, he can resign for a max deal.

bird rights don't transfer until after year 3, pretty much so stuff like this doesn't happen.

Maybe Bosh will sign a 3 year league minimum contract, that way he can get the 6 year re-sign deal with the Bulls.

Do you really think when Kobe retires people are going to say his first three rings don't count because he played second fiddle to shaq? No, they are going to say he has x amount of rings.

Actually, yes I do think that. Because, especially if Kobe gets one more ring, every mention of Kobe's greatness is going to compare him to Jordan. And people are going to say that Jordan did it without a true big man in the middle.

Yeah, cause Scottie Pippen was dog [expletive]

After thinking for a bit would a Heat team with Bosh, Wade, LeBron and a bunch of crap be that much better then the Lakers?

One thing to remember is that Florida does not have a state income tax. They could take a little less in salary but still wind up with about the same in their pocket.

I know Johnson to the Knicks is a hot rumor now, but if James & Bosh somehow manage to end up in Miami with Wade wouldn't Johnson be happier in Chicago on a much better team?

Nike wouldn't even endorse him if he went to those teams

Who cares? Why do Kobe's rings mean nothing because he had a really good big man, but Jordan's are immaculate because his 2nd best player was a SF?

Oh right, cause IT'S MICHAEL!!!

There are very few teams that have won multiple titles without a good big man (not none, but very few). And none that have been so dominant over a 10 year stretch that I can think of off the top of my head. I don't see how that's blatant Jordan homerism.

I thought the Bulls were his first choice? Unless he knows that James and Bosh are coming to the Bulls? Hmmmmm.....

I agree that it doesn't matter if the 2nd best player was 7' tall or 6'1" if that player is as good as Pippen. But Kobe didn't have a really good big man. A really good big man had Kobe. Kobe was a clear 2nd fiddle. While still a very good player, he was not as good as Shaq when he won his first 3 titles. Same thing can be said about Pippen in all 6 Bulls title years.
