ok, if it's true that those 3 actually met this weekend, i'm officially terrified of the possibility of all 3 going to miami.

I'm still not worried. For one, there are people I consider cap experts, or at least cap knowledgeable people on RealGM that are saying that Miami can't sign all 3 even if Beasley is traded. I guess it's possible that one or more of them sign for less, but it doesn't seem plausible. That's something you do in your 30's when your willing to sacrifice stats and whatever to win a title that has eluded you your career. I cant imagine Wade and James and even Bosh are willing to sacrifice their stats in the prime of their careers, when they are worried about things like legacy, and being amongst the greats of NBA history. In 20 years people will start to forget that these players sacrificed their careers for titles, and start only looking at numbers and see that LBJ for instance doesn't compare with other greats.

Anyways, it's possible that LeBron is considering this, but ultimately I don't think he can allow himself to do that. It's between Chicago and Cleveland in my mind.

if it does happen, the GM who agrees to trade for Beasley would be the most hated man in the NBA.

Which is why I think Beasley has become a very hard player to trade. Teams are not stupid they know if they acquire Beasley that essentially give Miami 2 legit Super Stars and perhaps on the road for a third (UMFan is correct, Miami cannot sign three Max FA, even with trading Beasley) so I think that idea, coupled with Riley asking for way too much=Beasley untradeable right now. Hell, Miami has been trying to trade Beasley for over a year now. This hoopla about Wade/James/Bosh will die down when people realize the unliklihood of it happening.

apparently broussard was on sportscenter and said miami is now the front runner fopr lbj. this is concering, because he's been pimping chicago hardcore for a while now.

i still don't see this happened for a few different reasons, but holy [expletive] would this be a disaster.

miami- lebron, wade, bosh

NY- johnson, amare

then who do we get? carlos boozer? great.

Hopefully they'll beat the Lakers at least.

But the Bulls are boned. It was fun for a while to think one of my teams might be competent and competitive.

A few things:

2) Good luck getting a team to take on Michael Beasley knowing that doing so will open the gates for a potential super dynasty to rule the league for several years. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it would have to make a ton of basketball sense for a team to ok that deal. Don't think the rest of the league knows this and won't do anything to prevent it from happening.

3) If Wade is so confident about getting James and Bosh, why is he taking meetings with other teams like the Bulls?

2) Yeah because the Bulls found it impossible to deal Hinrich which their dealing partner (in the East no less) knew would pave the way for them to sign LeBron and Bosh. A team can basically get a former #2 and talented young big man in exchange for cheap roster filler. They aren't going to turn it down because they're scared of the possibility that the Heat may sign all three. People thinking Beasley is nuts is the only way he can't be dealt. This is the NBA where Kevin Pritchard is fired just because his owner has lost his mind. These guys are worried about saving their own job.

3) That's pretty meaningless and could be done as insurance. There's no harm to him by setting up a meeting that may or may not take place.

I don't think so. Kobe is 1 away from equalling Jordan's 6 rings, but his first 3 are almost not included because he was the 2nd fiddle to Shaq. Carrying a team to a championship will be their legacy. None of them will get that chance if they are all playing together.

Do you really think when Kobe retires people are going to say his first three rings don't count because he played second fiddle to shaq? No, they are going to say he has x amount of rings.

Actually, yes I do think that. Because, especially if Kobe gets one more ring, every mention of Kobe's greatness is going to compare him to Jordan. And people are going to say that Jordan did it without a true big man in the middle.

No, if Kobe wins 1 more, people are going to say, "Kobe and Jordan both have 6 rings, but Jordan carried his team to all 6, while Kobe had Shaq for 3." Kobe has 5 rings, but he was Scottie Pippen for the first three titles (very good player, but 2nd best player on his team) and has been Jordan for the last 2.

Yeah, I guess I can see that argument.

His first three aren't included because people want to find any way they can to discount him and pimp Jordan.

in this particular scenario, it's not that hard to do.

Some ESPN salary cap guru, Larry Coon tweeted this...

If they re-sign Wade, waive Jones & renounce all other FAs, they will have $27,596,027 cap room. Bron/Bosh are $16,568,908 each.

So yeah, they'd have to move Beasley.

Posted
Anyone think the Bulls can still trade Deng? Once all the a level FAs are gone, some teams are going to be left with nothing. They will need to go after Loul. The Bulls pick up half of the salary, trade him, and then get Ray Allen in addition to Lebron and Bosh. Luol cant stay with the Bulls and Lebron.

yeah and beasley makes 4.9 mil so even if they got them on a straight salary dump they are over $1 mil short if you include a cap hold for beasleys slot. And they'd only have 4 players signed if they signed all 3 and chalmers. Meaning the other 8 players would have to sign for minimum salary to make it work. You might get a couple of vets on board but 8 minimum salary players? Really stretchng it. Not sure if that's better than going to Chicago with the cast they have includig rose another near max guy Noah taj and Dengs cap space.

Or they can take less then the max. If Bron is leaving 30 million on the table with the Cavs what's a couple mil less a year?

If they really had a conversation about teaming up in one place, surely part of that was fitting all the players into one team's salary. I could easily see one or all taking a bit off their salary in order to build the super team.

The few million dollars in BBall salary pales in comparison to the championship legacy they would potentially be building. You make money off that for the rest of your life.

I'm not going to stress out about this. But if Wade successfully convinces LBJ to go to Miami, he becomes public enemy number one in Chicago.

That said, I don't think that's going to happen.

Posted

Couple of things:

1) Bosh and LeBron wouldn't be able to get max contracts, which means they need to make it up in endorsements. Easy for LeBron, but for Bosh...

2) Further to my earlier comments about Wade, I never realized what an arrogant ass he is until now.

Speaking of endorsements, everybody's favorite commentator David Kaplan said that Nike will offer LeBron the biggest deal in company history if he goes to Chicago.
