Do Toronto or Atlanta have interest in him? Is Kirk alone enough to free up a max contract spot? (Actually asking a question, not being a prick like usual)

IDK what teams offseason games plans are. I wish I had a job that allows me to including in finding out, but alas it's not to be. But believe it or not, Hinrich only has 2 years left remaining on his contract ($17 mill left on his deal), and considering that teams like the Lakers (Hinrich would be much better then Fisher/Farmar) have shown interests in the veteran guard, I would say there is better then 50/50 chance of Hinrich being traded. I don't know who though, but I do believe there will be a decent market for Hinrich.

As for Boston, my gut says Allen comes back for a year, though that probably depends on whether we finish off Cleveland. Otherwise, I dunno, probably Starbury again.

Now if the Bulls do the unthinkable and sign Lebron, I could see Allen jumping from Boston to Chicago. Otherwise, I see Allen staying in Boston.

Who are you gonna get from the Lakers for Hinrich though? I don't think it's gonna be anyone who is an upgrade. As you alluded to, his deal is only two more years, so you'd have a hard time justifying him for a downgrade. You need to get a deal that is fair from a talent standpoint, and I'm not sure you can, not from the Lakers at least.

There's also the salary factor. The Lakers already have a ton of money locked up so the Lakers would have to trade $9M worth of contracts. So unless you want to take somebody like Luke Walton or Sasha Vujacic, a trade with the Lakers probably won't work.

Note: This is assuming I correctly understand how trades work in the NBA, which is 50-50.

I don't think anybody's going to take on Deng's contract, but Hinrich's going to have some value because he's an expiring after next year. There's going to be some type of market for him.

If the Bulls sign JJ, Bosh better be a Bull also.

They can't sign both.

they can, but they won't.

Agreed. It's not that they can't, they won't.

All you need to do is find a 3rd team willing to get involved.

If you believe Terry Boers, the Bulls are not interested in Joe Johnson at the max.

Actually, if you had zero faith in GarPax, you would expect them to not even get Joe Johnson, and have to pay some mid tier player tons of money to say that we got something.

LBJ stays in CLE

Wade stays in MIA

Bosh signs with MIA

Boozer sign and trade with HOU or DAL

Johnson signs with NYK

Lee goes to like CLE or stays with NYK

Tony Parker signs with NYK (new rumor)

Just a really not well thought out example, but there might be a point in the offseason where signing Joe Johnson would bring a sigh of relief.

Sonny Vaccaro was just on Waddle and Silvy

Recap

- Thinks there's a legit shot at Cal and Bron coming

- Cal is happy in Kentucky, is in no rush, but wants his shot at winning a championship in the NBA

- Wes is very involved

- Vague description of who Wes is ("facilitator of relationships")

- In his opinion, he has to leave Cleveland to win championships and be on the baskeball Mt. Rushmore, because Cleveland's roster isn't getting any better after this year....

- He believes LeBron is leaving (his opinion)

- His opinion that Chicago and LAC have the best young talent in the league.

- Says NJ would be a good situation with a big spending owner, but the two years in Newark throw a wrench in things...

- NYK depends on what they can do with the cap space because there isn't much there.

- In his opinion, the Bulls are the perfect fit.

- He would tell the Bulls to sign Cal today, because even if he didn't get LeBron, he's an asset and would get players to come here.

LeBron James and Derrick Rose would never work. LeBron would be worse with a true point guard.

You're right. If LeBron calls, we'll make sure to tell him to [expletive] off. Either that or we'll sign and trade Rose for Bosh and sign LeBron.

LOL. If I indulge you and act like this is even close to being true, it wouldn't be a drastic change. A "worse" Lebron would still be the 3rd best player in the league.

2nd, he'd still be better than Kobe

Who would have thought 6 months that listening to some people named "World Wide Wes" and Sonny Vaccaro and hiring John Calipari as coach would make it very feasible for LeBron James to sign with the Bulls. All this stuff feels like I'm reading some weird fiction novel.

He's not wrong, really. Rose and LeBron are not a very cohesive fit.

He's wrong in thinking that it matters very much that they wouldn't be an ideal fit... or would "never work."

This is an interesting point that I think makes a lot of sense. Be kinda like the Pete Carroll situation in Seattle. A lot of former Calipari coached players around the league. And he has recruited a lot more. If no Lebron, worse case scenario, he does a sale job to other FAs and Derrick Rose gets to play for him again.

Yeah maybe Rose and LeBron together wouldn't be maximizing each's potential and talents 100%, but if they are both playing to 90% of their talents, that's still better than any other player pairing with Rose IMO. If you have a chance to get the best player in basketball, you get him. If there are significant issues with the 2, you get rid of one of them in 2 years. Besides it's not like you are signing Chris Paul to play with Rose.

The cohesiveness of a Lebron and Rose lead backcourt would largely depend on who they have surrounding them. They are both tremendous at creating going to the basket, but neither (right now) is all that great of a shooter. If you surround them with guys who primarily are going to be driving/taking shots inside 12-15 ft. teams are going to pack it in and the results might not be as great. But if you give them a guy or two that can hang around the perimeter and knock down 3's consistently they could work out very well together as teams couldn't just collapse every time one of Rose/LBJ drive as they would have to respect the guys on the perimeter.

I understand that when two people are used to having the ball in their hands, cohesiveness may become an issue, but with Rose, I see LeBron become more of a Jordan or Kobe type of player. Sure it may take away from his assist totals, but he could score in the 35 point range per game as that would be his primary focus. Same with Wade.

i don't see why two guys who can penetrate and have great court vision would not be a great fit. rose drives, you collapse on him, and it's lebron with an oop. sign a shooter to go along with them and you can't guard the shooter at all, you just can't.

i don't see why it's so necessary to have a point guard who shoots the three when you can literally have a shooter at any other position. is it a rule that you can only have one guy to dribble-drive on the floor? i think it makes a ton of sense to have two guys who can get to the rim on the floor at the same time. rose has already developed a hell of a mid-range game, he'd be near unstoppable with lebron.

unless the insinuation is that paul pierce doesn't make rajon rondo better and that neither is good for the other, and that's paul pierce, not lebron james.

No doubt, I don't mean to imply that it would be a bad idea to pursue LeBron. If you did get him though, I'd look long and hard at what you could do with Rose or find a way around his perimeter shortcomings elsewhere(like a 4 that can shoot from deep).

I'm not the most well-versed person on basketball strategy, but would the triple post be an option with such a roster?
