My gawd. What a moronic, reactionary decision. Silva and Gorzelanny (who I actually quite like) in the rotation over Zambrano? Holy crap.

Trying to find some bright side: any chance this could extend Z's shelf life . . . he does seem to have been overworked during his career? Then again, Lou will probably use him for multiple innings every day.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is a move to make Z want to waive his no trade?

Not one bit. That's ridiculous.

Dave Kaplan gives this move his seal of approval.

Of course he does. I was involved in a Twitter war with him the other day and the guy truly believes Silva and Gorzelanny are better options in the rotation than Zambrano. The guy is one stubborn moron.

I think it is more likely that it could be meant as a message to Z to get him to "focus" and "mature".

But I actually think they just believe this makes the team better than moving Gorz or Silva to the pen. One positive I will say...they didn't let the $19M stand in their way of making the wrong choice here.

I mean is Piniella and the Cubs in general really that dumb to think Silva will keep pitching the way he has been? I mean really? I mean Zambrano is probably going to be good out of the pen in my opinion but to put a pitcher like him with a track record like his in the bullpen makes zero sense. Smoltz did but that was towards the end of his career. Wow

Hendry probably cooked this up as a way to piss Zambrano off and get him to waive his no-trade clause.

It may very well work.

Of course, no one will want to trade for an $18 million setup man, so Hendry will wind up paying 80% of his salary to get some other team to take him.

Then the other team will return him to the rotation and we'll spend the next 10 years routinely getting dominated by Big Z.

Oh my God, this is the dumbest of the dumb. Moron Kaplan was saying on Monday that the Cubs should move Z to the bullpen, but that Z would never agree to it. i thought to myself "thank god the people running this team are smarter than Dave Kaplan". Well, [expletive] me. Unbelieveable. I hate my life.

The assclows who decided this would be a good idea need to be kicked in the balls...It's moves like this that make me question anyone who still backs Hendry or Lou.

 :banghead:

NFL Draft tomorrow night, NBA and NHL playoffs in full swing so at least I can divert my eyes from this utter horse plop...but what do we watch from June until September? Golf? Curling? Replays of Mr. Bean?

I am going to assume you are not dissing Mr. Bean.

I love Mr. Bean. I am probably one of a handful of people that still watch the original show on DVD. Not the movies...

Oh and as an added bonus, we've made our offense worse every 5th day.

But Lou won't have to double switch to bring Z in the game now! He can pitch and then bat the next inning! Genius!
