Selfishly I hope they start on Friday. If Game 1 is on Sunday afternoon, I am going to have to rudely skip a long-scheduled engagement.

from a nucks board

let's see how little Kane and Toews stack up against the Sharks. Should be a pretty easy series for SJ.

That's right up there with talking about how your team's young core will be back in the "standard things to say after your team loses a playoff series."

really though, the blackhawks are extremely fortunate that they didn't have to face the sedins this series. if those guys played, it would probably have been a different series.

No doubt about it. They are good players, but the fact that Luongo is the captain of that team tells me about all I need to know about them. No desire to be leaders, and after efforts like they gave the last two weeks, they probably shouldn't be.

i couldn't believe how unnoticeable they were on the ice. you never even heard the announcers mention their names

the only player i really noticed all series was kesler

So we either get the Blackhawks (long Cup drought) or Sharks (perennial playoff chokers) in the Stanley Cup finals. I like it.

I'll definitely be rooting for the winner of this series in the finals.

yeah i heard that too. it also seemed like he was taking small subtle shots at his teammates for being so stupid all series. luongo may not have room to talk considering he sucked too, but i don't really blame him.

I gotta believe that the love for Luongo in Vancouver has gotta be dwindling a bit after getting destroyed 2 years in a row in the playoffs. When he's good I'll admit he's good, but it's way too easy to mentally get him off his game and he's just not consistent.

yes and no. he will get pretty much all the criticism in the paper tomorrow and the usual idiots will be calling for him to be traded but most people remember how bad it was goaltending wise for the canucks before luongo.

i've said all year that the canucks dont have the defence to make a long run in the playoffs and imo this series proves that to me more than it says anything about luongo.

Did VS pick up the Vancouver feed tonight? Announcers seemed a lot more interested in the Canucks and of course, were more excited about their score early in the third. Nevertheless, let the media cue up all the [expletive] about the Canucks losing their composure, being better 5 on 5, etc. face it Canuck apologists the Blackhawks are better.

Bobby Lu was quoted as saying his Canucks are still better than the Hawks however, the Hawks are a smarter team that knows how to win. Nice contradiction Bobby...

The other big positive is after all of the numbers we've seen about scoring disparity 5-5, we dominated that game without the aid of the power play.

A lot of guys stepped it up. Sopel had his best game and I thought he played well even outside of the PK. The Bolland line played maybe their best game collectively. After Brouwer's penalty I was completely dumbfounded as to why Q went with him over Kopecky and then he scores and makes some nice plays. We also could have found ourselves in an early 2-0 hole if not for Niemi making a couple big saves in the 1st.

It's gonna suck not having Foley calling the rest of these games.

This series is gonna rock...but more late starts make me sad.

I'm not sure about his contract situation, but if I was Vancouver I'd think about a coaching change...

Too much talent on that team to implode at home 0-3 in a huge playoff series for that town and those fans. They aren't getting rid of Luongo, probably not breaking up the Sedins. You can make the case that the internals on that team are not strong, which I would think tends to point at the coach...

So claim the Canucks are still better all you want, Bobby. You're part of that team too, and looking at it from the outside, you just didn't measure up to Q.

How many more times do we have to beat the Canucks before they shut up about being better than us? We know how to win = you gave up 17 goals in 3 home games you idiot.

In fairness, reading the press out of Vancouver today, and in recent days, I don't think they're buying that crap anymore.

They were before -- blaming refs, big buff's play, some kind of perceived unfairness on the part of the Hawks.

But lately I've been reading more statements along the lines of Luongo just blowing it, and the composure of the team just not holding up -- more self-examination.

So I think Bobby Lu continues with that junk at his own risk. The home folk aren't happy with him and his team's performance right now.
