Never been a fan of using the closer in a non-save situation, unless he needs work, which Marmol doesn't. I don't like this.

I don't get this either. But hey a line out DP and the game is over!

I'm guessing home opener and off day tomorrow is the reason for this.

plus the heart of a good lineup could come up and our bullpen sucks.

8-9-1 if Berg can't get through those guys, why is he on the team? It worked just like the all right handed hitting line-up, but that doesn't mean it will next time. We've seen plenty of closers have terrible outings in non save situations.

I predict we lose Wednesday, since that has been the cycle so far.

To hell with cycles then.

We broke the cycle. Lost both of the previous series openers.

And we've seen plenty of non-closers have terrible outings in non-save situations at the end of games. I bet if you researched it the superior pitcher (the closer) does better in those situations but people tend remember the blow ups because they get caught up in having the closer only pitch in save situations.

They could not spare even a single Rickett for radio interview? Rip off.

You must have missed the half inning long interview with Tom Ricketts that I heard Pat & Ron do.

Doh!! Sorry, my bad. I did miss it! Well I feel better anyway now so thanks. I hope Tom said lots of wonderful things and Ron likes him.

I was following the game on both NSBB and BF.net and suffice to say I had to look up at the website title to see which site I was on, because Brewers fan on that site sounds very much like Cubs fans during a game thread.

I bet if you researched it, you'd fine most major league pitchers can get 3 outs before they give up 4 runs. It's a waste of Marmol, but Lou's been doing this with his closers with 4 and 5 run leads since at least '08. It's certainly not going to stop this year when he trusts all of 1 guy in the pen.

and we've seen plenty of times that closers came in during non-save situations and pitched an easy 9th inning, but nobody remembers those.
