I don't think there's a wrong answer between Morris, Hamilton, and Pullen. Without putting a ton of thought into it, I'd say Pullen/Morris/Hamilton would be my order.

Pullen has done a great job of leading his team back from the dead, but he was also part of the reason that team stood on the brink.

He's also overvalued as a defender, and his A/TO ratio is barely above 1.

I don't think you should have to be on the best team to get consideration for the award, but I do think the team's results relative to expectations should be a consideration. This was the preseason pick to win the conference, and they needed a huge end of season run to climb into 4th place.

Believe me, I'll have a hearty laugh at KSU's expense if and when they lose for the 14th time to Colorado or get knocked off next week. My thought process was pretty quick, both seem to have similar statistical seasons(substituting rebounds for assists where appropriate) that are a half step above Hamilton. The supporting cast relative to that player seems to fit the difference in wins. And IMO it's ever so slightly more impressive to play that well without the help of better teammates, so Pullen gets a slight edge to me. What you're saying sounds fine to me too.

Pullen was suspended this year for rules violations. That's not going to have any effect? Is that who the Big 12 wants to represent them as POY?

At least he didn't break his girlfriend's jaw in three places like the Big 12's all-time leading scorer. Now that is one great representative of a Baptist school as well as the whole conference.

I'd go with Pullen as well, followed by Hamilton and then Morris. Pullen was on defensive first team and was a unanimous selection 1st team all Big 12. How can the player of the year in the conference not be a unanimous selection to first team all conference? He didn't make defensive first team either. Call me biased if you want. Mc Morris is a hell of a player, but player of the year, nah.

Burks being a unanimous selection irritates me. He and Dunn belong in a tie for that 5th spot, and every single voter put him on there? All he does is hoist shots, and he's not especially great at shooting.

I'd go with Pullen as well,

I'm sure you're shocked.... at least i put some reasoning in there.... gotta give me some credit.

But your logic wasn't consistent. You said you had to be consensus all-conference to win player of the year, then you put 2 non-consensus players ahead of the guy from Colorado

well, the fact marcus morris wasn't a consensus first teamer is absurd on its own, so I'm not comfortable using that as a reason to eliminate him from contention.

he's a better shooter than Jake Pullen.

Re-read what I posted. I said Pullen was consensus, AND on the all defensive team. I said Marcus wasn't consensus, and wasn't on the defensive team. A little different that saying someone had to be consensus. Also, who are the 2 other players that weren't consensus? I count one in Hamilton. Pullen was the only other I put ahead of him.

well, the funny thing is, you're posting the Big 12 first team/defensive team, as voted on by the coaches.

And they already handed out their player of the year. And it went to Marcus.

Agreed, pretty clear cut this year.

Freshman team? Sullinger, Basabe, Richmond, Hardaway, Craft?

I know you Illinois guys aren't big on Weber. If Billy Gillispie gets the job in Lubbock and has Tech back in the tournament in 2-3 years, is he someone you would be interested in? I know he was an assistant there under Self.

Gillispie? Heck no, not interested in slick Willy in any capacity.

Can he even come back in state without going to jail?
