Murray is acting like Iowa is the better team by shooting themselves in the foot. Yeah, the Illini don't have 17 turnovers or a -5 offensive rebounding differential or anything.

Personally I was a fan of his explanation that it was so rare for a kid growing up to want to go to a school like Illinois. Unlike the kids who grew up wanting to go to the historic Iowa program

Iowa sucks and we'll probably lose but they play hard and this has been the best thing to watch for us in about 5 years. We really suck at free throws though and that's irritating.

Hey now, they had that awesome team that won the BTT in 2006 and went really far in the tournament that year, right?

 

Kids just want to be like Jeff Horner and Erik Hansen.

Apparently since Tisdale doesn't weigh 47 pounds anymore, he's not allowed to touch anyone on the court, ever.

 

And how the hell was that an intentional foul on Richmond earlier. Hightower is the worst ref about calling crap that really has no need to be called.

We won, but this has been one of the worst performances of the season. So many bad passes and unforced turnovers.

 

Thankfully Iowa is really, really bad.

 

It wasn't anything unusual. They hit that 3 to go up 19 and then took their foot off the gas. They do it all the time when they have a comfortable lead and then they stop being aggressive and trying to score and the other team makes a run.

Damn, Iowa battled back after being down 9 and then kept fighting at the end. It's going to be awhile until we can compete in this conference again.

 

Oh well, at least we get a break with Ohio State next game.

Yeah, it kinda was unusual. There were several passes to no one. McCamey was even turning the ball over. It was bad. If it was against a decent team, it would have been a lot worse.

 

The hot shooting in the first half is the only thing that saved us from a bad loss. If Iowa was even mediocre the Illini lose. I'm over all the "they just took their foot off the gas" and "they lose their concentration against bad teams" rationalization. Playing like crap is playing like crap. Turning it on and off isn't a real solid strategy.

 

This was a pretty discouraging game, given that the Illini had supposedly been concentrating on their "focus" recently.

The lack of defensive rebounding will cost Illinois Big Ten games. I fear that Minnesota and Ohio State will eat Tisdale and Davis up inside.

 

We've actually been fairly good at rebounding especially on the offensive end. If Iowa has a strength that's probably it.
