This site makes me laugh because most of you guys panic at the slightest bad news

equally hilarious are the second wave of posters who come in and begin their typical "HAHAHA you guys are sooo pathetic. Look how worked up you got. Ohhhh mannnn you should have seen your faces!" shtick; after good news is reported, of course.

Most of you guys are, the sky is not falling because a pitchers shoulder is sore. And after good news is reported? Come on now, i dont live here like some of you guys so i dont know the latest breaking news about the cubs every single minute of the day.

EDIT

Especially since the news is about Guzman, who cant play a full season for his life. If this was about Ramirez shoulder, i would be more inclined to think this was really bad news

The funniest thing about this is that I didn't see anyone panic over this.

Sarcasm or not, this site still panics way to easily over stuff like this. If Guzmans name was Prior, some here would be calling him a baby and not man enough.

Part of it, I'd say, is due to Guzman's storied injury past. If he had been healthy throughout his career, this wouldn't be something to even mention, I'd say.

Which is certainly fair, I'm simply pointing out the speed at which people rush to panic and the voracity with which the panic commences.

You'd think the story was that both of Guzman's arms fell off at the shoulder as he was trying to throw today, crawled in the dirt over to a passing jackrabbit, killed it and then used its blood to write "YOUR CURSE WILL CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER 100 YEARS".

Yeah, I was just pointing out the reasoning this time.

And then the third wave of posters who comment on the first two waves....ah forget it...

From MLBTR:

Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com says that the Cubs have some interest in Luke Gregerson and/or Jason Frasor.

I've heard Frasor's name tossed about before, but not Gregerson. Gregerson's numbers are pretty impressive and he's only 25 years old.

This is a stupid assertion. Do you know who Angel Guzman is? How the hell is it panicking too early when they hear something about Angel Guzman?

God this is dumb. So so dumb.

no, YOU'RE pathetic.

I know you are, but what am I? I know you are but what am I? I know you are, but what am I? I know you are but what am I?

On the upside, the Cubs actually seem to have enough pitching depth in the upper minors to shore up the bullpen from within if anything happens to Guzman.

Definitely. Guzman is a known quantity. Having system depth is good. Bullpens are a crapshoot. That is all.

Do you think im some kind of fair weather fan who doesn't know who the players are or their history? It's not panic worthy when someone who is extremely fragile possibly breaks very early in spring training. There are still a few players out there who the Cubs could get in free agency along with some decent talent in the minors. If this was in the middle of the season or going into late September, then i could see the panic, but now there are options. As ive said before, there are many more players where panic would be acceptable such as Lee, Z, Ramirez, Soriano, Byrd, Nady, Soto, Dempster, Lilly, Marmol, Wells, Cashner, Castro etc etc etc

You sure sound like it. Angel is a good pitcher, and any sign of health trouble is problematic. The bullpen is already kind of questionable and there isn't anybody significant who is available. You complete mischaracterize the response in the first place.

wont be able to prove it either way regardless but if you say so, it must be true.

While this is true and I think they could put a bullpen together from pretty much all in house guys, I don't think Hendry/Lou believe they have the guys in house to compile the bullpen after Guzman's injury. Which I think will lead to Hendry going out and probably spending too much (either in players given up in a trade or $ towards a FA).

The Trib says Guzman won't be ready by Opening Day.

Cubs reliever Angel Guzman has experienced shoulder discomfort again and will not be ready to start the season, manager Lou Piniella said Friday.

An MRI will be performed on Guzman's right shoulder Friday afternoon by team physician Stephen Gryzlo. The Cubs fear it could be a significant injury that results in the loss of Guzman for an extended period of time.

Guzman had arthroscopic knee surgery two weeks before the season and suffered shoulder pain the first week of spring training. He's had a history of elbow issues over his career, and underwent elbow reconstruction surgery in 2007. If he does have shoulder surgery, Guzman is likely to be out for several months.

Is it ok to freak out now?
