That lineup will be sick.

Reyes

Castillo

Wright

Beltran

Bay

Delgado

Francouer

Coste/Molina?

Delgado is a free agent. Dont know how that lineup is a sick lineup, other than Reyes, Wright and Beltran, dont see who would even worry an opposing pitcher on that lineup. Even Reyes is a question mark with him recovering from that hamstring injury.

Are they bringing back a 38 year old injured Carlos Delgado?

Also, Jeff Francouer is horrible.

Nice 3-4-5 though.

Yeah pretty much. I'm not buying into the media's Met Hype anymore. They were hyped last year to be in the playoffs and maybe win the WS. I remember Olney and some of the other ESPN analysts calling the Mets bullpen unbelievable and the best in the Majors hands down. I understand they had injuries but even if they were healthy, i doubt they would've even reached the playoffs.

Very similar story to another NL team that was supposed to run off with their division and maybe win the world series, only they were hit with injuries and inconsistancy when they were healthy.

Difference is though, the cubs actually won their division two seasons in a row before last year. They also had the rookie of the year as their catcher so it was natural to pick them as a favorite. The Mets on the otherhand seem to be overhyped every year despite not having much success this decade.

I'm pretty sure it was the year before last that they had all the hype. I don't remember many people having much confidence in the Mets at all last season.

I thought it would be fun to look this up on Bay's Baseball cube page:

Jul 31, 2002 - Traded by Mets with Josh Reynolds and Bobby Jones to Padres for Jason Middlebrook and Steve Reed.

Great trade

Didn't Reed make an all star game or two? Still a bad trade, but not the worst on the planet.

No they hyped them last year, especially after acquiring KRod.

No he didn't make an all star game. And he was a 37 year old relief pitcher, so yeah, it was one of the worst.

4/66 seems like a nice deal for the Mets. Somewhat pricey, but a short deal for a guy who should be a very productive hitter the next few years.

Great trade

This was 4 months after he was traded for Lou Collier.

You're thinking about Rick Reed. He was an all-star in 1998 and 2001 with the Mets.

Ah yes, that's it. Terrible trade.

Jason Bay, was a good player and now that he's a met he will become just another avg player. As so it seems when you go to the NY Mets. If he wanted to go to NY he would have signed with the Yanks at least they will win.
