I'd like to interview Cubs fans that will be attending the convention this season. If you follow the team closely, and will be at this year's convention, please drop me a line at dave.seminara@gmail.com. If you're interested, let me know, I'd be happy to give you more details on the publication and storyline. Thanks!

Me either jersey. Listening to the player and manager interviews on the radio has and will always be enough for me. Some of them are quite funny and entertaining. Always love when Lee Smith is on he's really funny.

BTW no never been to one.

As a long time Cubs fan who goes to multiple games a year, travels to see them play and watches as many games on TV as possible, I've never understood the draw of the Cubs convention.

I'd like to go once, simply because I've heard about it so much, and it lets you see players/coaches in a different setting than where we usually see them...on the field.

But I don't think it's something I'd want to go to every year. And definitely not this year. I still dislike too much about this team.

Yeah, it's something I'd like to do once just to check it out, but that's about it. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

It was pretty cool last year. Some of the little events are just circlejerks to stroke the players ego while idiot fans ask hard-hitting questions like "hi..hi..hi...uh..mr. zambrano..do you like hitting home runs?"

But some of the things there can be pretty interesting and if you're looking for autographs it's one of the few times you'll get a shot at people like Z or any of the other big names that attend.

Half the draw for the Cubs convention is it is 24/7 talking about Cubs with former and current players. The other half of the draw is talking with all the fans that are there to get ready for the season. It is like getting to the game 10 hours early and sitting in the bleachers and going over what the expectations are for the year. It is an easy escape from reality during the winter.

Plus if you go enough times you find out where the players stay and how to find time to sit down the old players and talk about their careers and the current team, and find out what they think of the current players.

I went several times when I was in high school. It's fun, but you have to wait in line for hours to get autographs and it's really crowded. It's just not worth it unless you get a hotel room to relax in.

I live 2 blocks from the Chicago Hilton now, which would make things easier, but I'm still probably not going to end up going.

Okay, so the convention is a week away; who the hell is gonna be there? I never remember the Cubs waiting this late to release names.

I'll be there, but I doubt the Cubs release that. :D)

Not going to the Convention, but I do leave for fantasy camp in two weeks.

Woo hoo!

Hey, when you finish the camp, start a thread and let all us old timers know what it's like. Who was there as instructors and just what you got out of the experience and all.

Didn't feel this was new thread worthy, but David Schuster on the Score just reported that Soto says he has lost 35-40 pounds

40 pounds in about 3 months? Is he dying?

Schuster said he did not recognize him he lost so much weight. I guess by eating a lot of "chicken and fish" If that was coupled with less munchies, I wouldn't be surprised :-))

After football season back in high school, it was pretty routine for me to crash diet back down from my playing weight and lose about 60 pounds in 3 months.
