Dammit! After watching those videos, I like Hendry a little bit more. I still think he [expletive] the bed in tremendous fashion last offseason though. But, I will give him the benefit of the doubt since apparently the scouting and coaching system has become world-class under his guidance. Only time will tell, and we still have a few more years left to see what happens.

I'm telling you the man can talk. Every year I went Hendry almost makes you believe he's a great GM. I always walk in hating the guy and walking out liking him.

His contract is up in 2012. Lee, Ramirez, and Fukudome have contracts expiring before that time. Jim is pretty good at making trades, but those are marquis positions where his FA signing history has me supremely scared. The point I am trying to make is that if Hendry were not to get another extension, the possibility of him leaving a lasting effect is quite large. Hopefully Ricketts has a little more concern, restraint and knowledge hidden behind his praising exterior during the Convention.

I wish I knew Tim and a few others were going to be there. I'd have bought a couple rounds.

The only NSBB'er that I recognized and touched base with was Kasey. I only knew him because he said his name when he asked a question. :)

Yeah, from the videos you posted it doesn't appear i was working in any of the rooms that you were in. The only non autograph session I was at was the down on the farm thing.

One of you peoples came up and said hi to me and I couldn't connect the face to a screen name...who was it?

Sorry to pull a hit and run on you, but I didn't want to bother you by your bosses.

I had a family conflict on Sunday and couldn't make it. Which is maddening because it's the one session I REALLY wanted to go to.

Ha! My friends and I were standing right behind you during the Meet the Ricketts portion, Tim.

Maybe you should consider posting pictures of yourself from behind so this sort of situation doesn't happen again.

Well...I'm willing to bet that I was the only one in attendance with a press pass, a soto jersey and an nsbb t-shirt.

Figured I was pretty identifiable. :)

Oh, and I think most here will thank me for not subjecting them to pictures of me from behind. :D

Yeah, I was pretty pumped that I actually got to go to that session. I had been stuck by autograph booths for the majority of the rest of the convention. But that day I was Andrew Cashner's escort for the day (Really nice guy, btw) and so I sat behind the stage and got to hear the session. It was kinda interesting, but nothing really earth-shattering was said.

And not a problem, Garwilly.

btw - we've got two articles on the Cubs convention up from a much better author than me (Julie DiCaro) plus I've got about seven videos loaded now over at 312sports. The latest is Hendry talking about the Jake Fox for Jeff Gray trade.

Best way to keep track is to refresh the Cubs page there to see the latest. I've still got several more to post.

Thanks, Tim -- it's a handy summary!

I wouldn't have been able to go to the Convention this year regardless, but I stopped going a few years ago because it just seemed too oversold. Last time I went (a few years ago), you'd have to arrive 15-20 minutes early to sessions or the room would be closed. The last convention I attended I ended up spending more time at the bar than fighting the crowds!

Maybe a new venue would help matters.
