JA Adande just reported the deal is done on ESPN radio 710 here in LA. Carroll to the Seahawks.

Won't they have to at least pretend to adhere to the Rooney Rule?

Would it matter that they tried to interview Leslie Frazier but he declined?

Chris Mortensen is saying the same thing about it being a done deal.

Anyone else want to start the Saban to USC rumors with me.

The top 3 candidates are supposed to be Mike Riley, Jeff Fisher and Jack Del Rio.

Jack Del Rio!?!?!?! Don't they realize he's a moron?

Hate to break it to you, but I already beat you to it. Look back on page two of the thread.

ok so apparently no one saw my post at the bottom of page 2 (or more than likely ignored it) but I really dont get the bashing of Carroll. Is it just jealousy? Somehow the guy reborn the USC program and because it wasn't the school you root for he is a whore monger and the program need SMU (whatever that means).

I realize that it must be the "cool" thing to do but really, stop trying to be cool. There is a point where it is just plain mean and inherently wrong as a human being. Bullying should NEVER be OK, even if it is on a an anonymous web posting board

Maybe, just maybe, it's because he runs a renegade program that breaks/flouts NCAA rules left and right, and because he's a nearly 60-year-old man who acts like he's 25 or younger at times (like the ridiculous display vs UCLA this year). I mean, that might be it. I'm not sure.

I know the current rumors are USC will get in trouble. However, I'm not so sure. I have two friends that work at the NCAA in compliance, and they both claim that since the whole Reggie Bush thing USC has been very kosher. Either way, the "renegade" framing seems pretty obviously Notre Dame fan jealousy/whining.

If I was a minority coaching candidate, I would stick it to Seattle and not grant them an interview.

From a couple of people I trust who are friends with USC boosters high up, they are expecting USC to be hit with sanctions but it won't be severe. But the main reason Carroll is leaving is a falling out with the AD (who is feeling heat with basketball and football compliance issues).

How has USC been kosher since Reggie Bush? Dwayne Jarrett, OJ Mayo and Joe McKnight were all after.

shut up bully

Wow, you are just an idiot aren't you?

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

How ironic...that's exactly what I say but yet I am persecuted for it

To be clear am I not allowed to criticize anybody, or does this just pertain to college football?

Honestly, I'm not the right person to ask about this. I don't follow USC's perceived or real violations because I honestly don't care much (I care about violations, just not USC specifically). I just know what I've been told by people within the NCAA. They could be wrong, not privy to all the information, but they aren't lying to me, I know that. (Non-severe sanctions would comport with what I've heard, I believe, especially if they result from the Bush issues.)

As to OJ Mayo, I thought it was pretty clear I meant the football program exclusively (we are in a football thread). If not, I apologize. The entire Mayo recruitment stunk and was, ostensibly, a sham. As to McKnight, if you're referring to the SUV thing, that seems to be an open case that USC suspended the player for. More information is probably needed, as far as I know, before a determination either way. On Jarrett, if you're talking about the rent issues, I believe USC's compliance department discovered and reported the issue (and Jarrett paid back the rent).

Didn't Carroll twitter that something big was going to hit? Or was that just an internet joke?

Fair enough...I mentioned Mayo because the NCAA combined the basketball and football investigations into one.

Soul, that has got to be a rumor. No way Carroll would say something like that.

Figured I'd put this here rather than in the College thread.

Yeah, I thought Kiffin was doing a pretty good job in Oakland until he was canned. Davis should have been more patient with him, just like he ought to be more patient with Cable. Five wins with that roster is a pretty decent job.

I agree. Plus they beat two playoff teams in Philly and Cincinnati and helped keep Denver out of the playoffs. The major sticking point appears to be Russell. Russell is Al's QB while Cable obviously isn't too fond of him.

Whoever the coach is next year is going to have to agree to play Russell because Al wants it to happen.

It's also hilarious that the meeting between Cable and Davis will take place whenever Al decides to show up - which is why it's been pushed back twice, Al hasn't showed up.
