Much more informative article:

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20091216/SPT02/312160072/1055/NEWS/Henry+in+serious+accident

Bengals WR Chris Henry was involved in a serious accident and suffered serious head injuries on Wednesday in Charlotte after what police are describing as a “domestic situation” between the fifth-year player and his fiancé, Loleini Tonga.

According to detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, the Homicide Unit and H.I.T.S. unit are conducting an investigation.

Officers responded to a call in reference to a person down a half mile from the house where Henry and his fiancé were staying. When officers arrived, they found Henry in the road with life-threatening injuries.

Henry was then taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he is being treated.

Police say Henry was involved in a “domestic situation.” His fiancé got into a pickup truck and drove away. According to police, as she was driving, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck. A domestic dispute continued between the two and at some point Henry came out of the back of the truck.

Rotoinfo's twitter says he's on life support and the situation is dire.

They are saying he fell out of the back of the truck during a domestic dispute??

Edit:

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry suffered serious injuries after falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute with his fiance, police said Wednesday.

Henry was found in the road in Charlotte "apparently suffering life-threatening injuries,'' according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Henry was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, the local trauma unit, but spokesman Scott White said he was not listed in hospital records and had no other information.

Police say Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his unidentified fiance was driving away from a home just before noon.

"The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry,'' the police said in a statement. "At some point while she was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.''

My thoughts and prayers are with himi and his family. Hopefully with the help of the good lord on our side we can pull together to get through this terrible tragedy that has striken such a great american hero.

I predict this thread ends poorly.

As in a poor end for Mr. Hendry, or the thread devolving into name-calling and sarcasm?

edit: That should be "Henry".

The former is a possibility, but the latter is an inevitability.

an OU quarterback, Brent Rawls, who was a 5-star huge recruit, fell out of the back of a truck while at school and never played a down. He was just drunk and stupid though.

Happened to a buddy of mine when we were all drunk. He popped up like nothing had happened. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Just depends on how you land, I guess. I'm assuming your buddy didn't land on his head from a moving truck, though.

hopefully he doesn't die, and this motivates the bengals to super bowl glory

That was the first thing that popped into my head after hearing about this. Between their coordinator's wife and this, there is a lot of outside forces working with the Bengals this year.

truck was definitely moving, I don't remember the details but I'm guessing his back or something took most of the hit. Direct shot to the head will give you pretty bad odds on popping back up.

My little brother was almost killed this way. The guy drove into a ditch, and my brother was flung from the back 30 feet, right between a telephone pole and a light pole that were no more than 6 feet apart. He landed on his shoulder/neck, but only had a broken collarbone and sprained neck.

Lucky.

sad story and the news just keeps getting worse as the night goes as the latest reports have his condition dire, not to mention that how a homicide investigation has been opened up which leads reporters to believe that he isn't going to make it. There was a article on Henry not to long ago where they have a picture of him with his wife and 3 kids...talking about how much of a family man he was. Despite all the issues he had, you just don't want to see it end this way.

Prayers go out to him and his family.

that's crazy

If somebody said a couple years ago that Chris Henry was going to die young, i wouldn't be surprised. Can't help but wonder if this is a reverse Tiger, where the fiance drove off after arguing about infidelity, he chased after and paid the ultimate price.

Agreed, this thing sort of feels like the Sean Taylor death again.
